</script>"<< Background >>The project ""Meet Our Neighbours 2"" was developed to address the problem of persistent stereotypes and prejudices between people from different Balkan countries. These stereotypes, we can say, are perpetuated through educational policies and the media and have contributed greatly to the divisions and conflicts in the region. The project aims to engage young people from different Balkan countries to help overcome these historically layered perceptions and promote common European values such as tolerance, respect and human rights.<< Objectives >>The primary objective of the project is to foster a deeper understanding between young people from Balkan countries, encouraging dialogue and cooperation. By focusing on shared traditions, history, and culture, the project seeks to counteract negative stereotypes and contribute to long-term peace and reconciliation in the region. Specific objectives include developing tools and activities that promote tolerance and civic engagement among youth.<< Implementation >>The project encompassed several key activities:Research and Studies: The ""Image of the Other"" study explored stereotypes in textbooks and media across the participating countries.Toolkit for Youth Workers: A toolkit was developed, including non-formal exercises and activities aimed at helping youth workers address prejudice and promote intercultural dialogue.NoConflict Videos: Each partner country created short videos promoting peace and shared traditions, which were shared on platforms like TikTok and YouTube.Mobilities and Training Events: Workshops and training sessions were conducted to enhance the capacity of youth workers and young participants to serve as agents of peace.<< Results >>The ""Meet Our Neighbors 2"" project achieved the following key results aimed at overcoming stereotypes and prejudices among the youth Balkans:- The ""Image of the Other"" Study, based on an analysis of history textbooks, curricula, a survey of over 750 young people, and thematic youth workshops. This study provided a foundation for future activities aimed at addressing division and hatred in the region.- Guide for Youth Workers and Toolkit with informal exercises, designed to help youth workers overcome stereotypes through role-playing games, simulations, and discussions.- Creation of ""NoConflict"" Videos, promoting peace and shared cultural values, distributed through social media platforms.- An online platform, providing access to all project resources, available in 7 languages, including English.- Two mobilities and trainings for youth and youth workers from the region, enhancing their competencies in using non-formal education methods.In general the project contributed to strengthening neighborly relations, promoting tolerance, and fostering a peaceful cultural identity across the Balkans."
