You(th) can THRIVE! Enhancing adaptability, resilience and learnability skills in young employees.

Description

<< Background >>The unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic has brought with it mental health challenges as well as obstacles in new working environments. Unforeseeable challenges have urged organizations to reshape their work environments in order to foster their adaptability and promote positive change (World Economic Forum, 2020). At the same time, anxiety, fear, depression have had a negative impact on people’s personal and professional domains. The inevitable shifting from on-site to teleworking has negatively impacted employees’ work efficiency and productivity and has led to a lack of work-life balance (Gorlick, 2020). As hybrid working circumstances are becoming the norm, it is key that young employees develop critical soft skills (i.e. adaptability, resilience and learnability skills) to overcome effectively work challenges and changes. Personal competences including resilience and the ability to cope with stress have been identified as key competences (EU, 2019). Hence, THRIVE’s main goal was to develop and enhance resilience, adaptability and learnability skills of young employees in the workplace, especially those with fewer opportunities and other obstacles such as mental or physical health difficulties, mobility or financial difficulties.<< Objectives >>Raise awareness about the impact of poor resilience, adaptability and learnability skills on job satisfaction, quality of work, mental and physical health•Identifying when and how to implement effectively these three core skills •Achieving successful work-life balance •Develop and enhance resilience, adaptability and learnability skills in young employees •Train employers to develop fostering work places •Develop quality training materials •Capacity building and networking on an EU level.<< Implementation >>Focus groups in each country to record needs of young employees and mental health challenges and exchange good coping strategies •Pilot-testing to finalize project’s 'How To' kits for employees and employers and the e-learning platform •Trainings in each country using these kits •Structured discussions in each partner country •Host online meetings •Conduct a comprehensive dissemination online campaign.More precisely we had:•Project Management and Monitoring during the 12 months of the project with multiple meetings•The Kick-off meeting •Data-based Research and Context Analysis: Focus Group in Cyprus•Data-based Research and Context Analysis: Focus Group in Italy•The E-campaign (‘Thrive’ at Work)•The Collective Learning &Training in Cyprus•The Collective Learning &Training in Italy •The Dissemination and Exploitation of Results (DEOR)•The Final Transnational Meeting << Results >>PR1:A comprehensive e-learning platform (website) pertaining PR2 •PR2:: 2 'How To' kits for young employees and employers•R3: An e-campaign ('Thrive' at Work) providing awareness with quotes on work burn-out, ways of thriving at work, how to create non-toxic work environments, and ways of enhancing resilience and adaptability and learnability skills in young employees• Additionally: Project Plan •Partnership agreements •Online dissemination materialsTHRIVE promoted the participation of young employees and employers in all work sectors, especially those young employees with limited opportunities. We invited young people to express their ideas and perceptions, including those who live in remote areas and have the chance for active participation. They had the opportunity to express their perceptions, navigate the e-learning platform (PR1), and through their contribution in the needs analysis and focus group, we developed two how-to kits with tips and ways to build resilience and adaptability (PR2). In addition to that, we created an e-campaign that was disseminated on the social media of all partner organizations in Cyprus and Italy to expand the reach of the campaign (R3), and it was also uploaded on the e-learning platform.
