Na stičišču neenakosti / diskriminacij

Description

"<< Background >>The participating organisations have identified a common problem - a lack of perception and recognition of stereotypes and norms in the areas of gender, race and ethnicity and related intersectionality among young people, which exacerbates discrimination. Ignorance of the root causes of discrimination also means lack of recognition. Adressing those means first and necessary step to be taken in wider society to include people who have experienced intersectional discrimination. We have identified both multiple and intersectional discrimination problems involving gender, race, colour and ethnicity. Youth workers occasionally address aspects of discrimination, but as separate topics, not together and as a magnifying glass of discrimination. There is not much focus on youth work and intersectional discrimination in the EU, nor at national level in the 3 countries involved, as confirmed by the research we carried out at the beginning of the project (Activity 1). Inequalities within the EU have been increasing in recent years. Hate speech and unacceptance of difference is so widespread among young people that it occurs on a daily basis and youth workers have a demanding job and need additional competences to address intersectionality.<< Objectives >>Objectives:- To raise the quality of youth work by addressing intersectional discrimination and developing sensitive, open and critical attitudes related to gender, racism, ethnicity and the intersectionality of these categories;- to strengthen the knowledge and competences of youth workers in the field of critical learning on topics related to the unequal distribution of power in society, gender (sex, gender roles, identities, norms, prejudices, stereotypes, expectations, gender sensitivity, etc.), race and ethnicity, and the intersectionality of categories; - support youth organisations in their efforts to mainstream gender, race, ethnicity and the intersectionality of these areas and related measures (""gender and equality mainstreaming"") in their projects;- increase stakeholder involvement in discussions on recommendations to address and prevent intersectional discrimination.<< Implementation >>The project promoted inclusion/belonging and raised awareness of diversity. All activities addressed discrimination from the perspective of gender, race, ethnicity and intersectionality:- Conducting a survey on intersectional discrimination, including gender, race and ethnicity; - Development and publication of a training on intersectional discrimination (online training available in 4 languages: Slovenian, Italian, Romanian and English);- Implementation of a mixed training (5-day training with 27 participants in Ljubljana and online);- Making recommendations for decision-makers and advocacy (at national and EU level);- Communication and dissemination of results to raise awareness on intersectional discrimination.<< Results >>- New training model for youth workers on intersectional discrimination - published, publicly available online training with practical materials,- 27 trained female youth workers from three countries participating in an international training,- A network of participating organisations and youth workers in the participating countries to exchange knowledge, experience and good practices in the field of youth work,- Recommendations for decision-makers on addressing and eliminating intersectional forms of discrimination."
