Digital Life Learning

Description

<< Background >>The project was conceived with the belief that digital skills play a crucial role for the inclusion of older adults and that human interaction is essential for transferring knowledge and creating bonds between generations. Our societies are experiencing major transformations: the green revolution, which promotes a carbon-free model; the demographic shift, marked by a rising average age; and the digital revolution, which accelerates innovation and change. Our project DIGILIFE focused on the latter two, leveraging their potential to create new opportunities.By leveraging digital innovation, it is possible to enhance the quality of life for older adults, ease the burden on healthcare systems, and stimulate economic growth. As the population continues to age rapidly, the combination of connected technology and proper support creates opportunities for innovative solutions. Funded by E+, the project relies on transnational cooperation to achieve a pan-European impact, with flexible methodologies designed for scalability and replicability at every stage.<< Objectives >>The project aimed to turn digital exclusion into an opportunity by facilitating knowledge transfer between university students and older adults. Seniors gained essential digital skills for independence and social inclusion, while students developed teaching skills and earned micro-credentials useful for their study courses. The main objectives were:1.To get deeper understanding of older adults and their needs and wishes 2.Develop digital skills of older adults to enjoy fuller and more independent lives 3.Foster and develop coaching and teaching skills for university students through digital knowledge transfer to older adults 4.Develop a micro credential system recognition 5.Promote a more socially included life for oldAll the objectives were achieved in the form of the outcomes which were set at the beginning of the project. Moreover, DIGILIFE promoted the increase of digital tool use by seniors; teaching experience for students; the development of methodologies to support caregivers in digital training and it strengthened intergenerational dialogue for a more connected society.<< Implementation >>- Needs Assessment and Data Collection: After a first country research, we conducted surveys to assess the digital skills and needs of older adults, ensuring that training efforts were tailored to their specific requirements.- Toolkit Development: We created a digital skills toolkit, which included resources (guides, videos, and presentations), it was designed to be adaptable for use in different regions and it was presented in the 4 countries.- Training the Trainers:Structured training sessions held across 4 countries (PT, IT, ES,EL), where university students were trained to teach digital literacy to older adults. - Digital training to older adults were developed in order to provide participants with digital skills to overcome everydays challenges in modern world. - Micro-Credential System: Implemented for recognizing students’ training efforts, allowing students to receive official validation of their participation.- Communication and Dissemination: We established the DigiLife Knowledge Hub as an online platform for sharing project resources and updates. - TPM, Offline Events and Final Conference:We organized project meetings, offline events and a final conference to organise activities, present and share the outcomes.<< Results >>- WP2-Replicable methodology: standardized data collection process and questionnaire was developed to assess needs of older people, allowing replicability to EU contexts- WP2-Digital competence toolkit: developed based on identified needs, adaptable for use in different regions with similar demographic characteristics- WP3-Training implementation: Training of Trainers (T4T) courses were organized in Portugal, Italy, Spain and Greece. Training courses to enhance older people digital skills- Microcredential system: recognised to students who carried out the training to adults- WP4:Communication and dissemination:- DigiLife Knowledge Hub : online platform for sharing project information and resources- DigiLife Newsletter : regular newsletter to share news and events- Offline events and final conference: presentation of results to a wider audience.- 4 TPM (including KOM) to coordinate the implementation of activities and strengthen the partnership. These results have helped to improve the digital skills of older adults, provided valuable experience for young students and improved digital skills of all the people involved
