<< Background >>We applied for the Green Youth project to respond to an urgent need for accessible, eco-friendly education and to engage young people in environmental awareness and activism. Climate change, resource waste and environmental degradation are global challenges, but education and youth engagement are key tools for addressing them.The project aimed to empower youth with knowledge and skills to become active, environmentally conscious citizens while also supporting youth workers with innovative, non-formal methodologies and digital tools. This addressed two main needs:- The lack of modern, engaging educational resources on sustainability;- The necessity of making young people active contributors to greener communities, in line with the EU Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.<< Objectives >>The project sought to create tools and practices that foster a modern and eco-friendly education framework. Specifically, the objectives were to:- Develop a pedagogical framework for blended green education;- Provide youth workers with tools to engage young people more effectively;- Deliver accessible and practical content on ecology, sustainability and the environment;- Equip young people with concrete tools for active citizenship and greener lifestyles;- Raise awareness of EU climate priorities (the Green Deal) among youth;- Strengthen transnational cooperation by addressing common European environmental challenges.Ultimately, the aim was to empower young people to rethink daily habits, engage with the 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink), and contribute to the building of sustainable communities.<< Implementation >>To achieve its objectives, the project implemented a wide range of educational, digital and dissemination activities:- Creation of a pedagogical framework for green education;- Development of 8 training units: 4 for youth workers (climate change, water waste, food waste, pollution and health) and 4 for youth (sustainability, zero waste, upcycling, green lifestyles);-Production of a digital toolkit with all training materials;- Development of an Open Educational Resource (OER) with two dedicated sections: youth workers and youth;- Launch of the “Green Youth” Mobile App with 10 videos showcasing practical activities based on the 4Rs;- Creation of a project website and social media channels to engage a wider audience;- Organisation of 10 Multiplier Events (one in each partner country) to disseminate results and methodologies;- Production of promotional materials, newsletters, and press conference;- Regular Transnational Project Meetings (TPMs) to monitor progress, share evaluations and coordinate activities.-In support of the implementation of the activities, the TPMs held an interim control tool, to check on the project progress on the different objectives. In total there were 4 TPM: 3 were face to face on was online.<< Results >>The project delivered three main intellectual outputs plus dissemination and impact activities:R1: Digital Toolkit on Green Education- A pedagogical framework and training materials for youth workers and youth, supporting the adoption of green methodologies.R2: Green OER (Open Educational Resource)- A free, user-friendly, multilingual platform offering training units, quizzes and guidance for youth and youth workers.R3: Green Youth Mobile APP- Featuring 10 interactive videos with practical activities promoting sustainable habits and environmental activism.Other key results:- Strengthened engagement of youth workers and young people in sustainability;- Increased knowledge and awareness of environmental challenges among the target groups;- A transnational network of organisations committed to eco-friendly education;- Wide dissemination through multiplier events, social media, and press outreach, ensuring sustainability and transferability of results.This project produced not only tangible resources but also lasting awareness, skills and partnerships that will continue to promote environmental sustainability across Europe.
