</script>"<< Background >>VitaTiim initiated the 'YOU(th) in the moment' project after recognizing the need for a structured approach to integrate mindfulness into our youth work. Despite our team's experience with holistic methods, we lacked a cohesive strategy for their application. This project aimed to develop mindfulness programs for both youth workers and young people, suitable for digital use and integration into daily and organizational activities. Prompted by research indicating significant mental health challenges among youth during the COVID-19 pandemic, with around 90% experiencing distress, our project sought to enhance youth workers' capacity to use mindfulness for supporting young individuals. Mindfulness, known for fostering present-moment living, acceptance, and curiosity, shows promise in improving self-esteem, emotional regulation, and resilience. Considering mindfulness's proven effectiveness in reducing anxiety, depression, and stress, our project focused on leveraging these practices to support youth facing various life challenges, aiming to bolster their mental health and well-being.<< Objectives >>The project aimed to integrate mindfulness into youth work to enhance the well-being, mental health, and active engagement of youth and youth workers. Objectives included increasing youth workers' proficiency in mindfulness practices, developing mindfulness curricula and e-courses for both youth workers and young people, assessing the impact of these practices, establishing a pool of mindfulness instructors within the youth work field, and raising awareness about the benefits of mindfulness.<< Implementation >>To achieve our project's aim, we implemented a strategic partnership project that involved establishing a strong and fruitful collaboration among youth organizations from Estonia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Sweden, and Ukraine. Within this framework, we developed four key products:O1 - Mindfulness Curriculum for Youth Workers: A comprehensive curriculum designed for online and contact implementation, providing youth workers with the knowledge and skills to integrate mindfulness into their work.O2 - Mindfulness e-course for Youth Workers: An e-course developed based on the O1 curriculum, accompanied by a pool of mindfulness instructors specialized in the youth work field, to facilitate the learning and application of mindfulness practices.O3 - Mindfulness Curriculum for Youth: Similar to O1 but tailored specifically for young people, allowing for both online and contact implementation to directly engage youth in mindfulness practices.O4 - Mindfulness e-course for Youth: Based on the O3 curriculum, this e-course aimed to embrace mindfulness methods and tools while raising awareness about mindfulness among youth work professionals and young individuals. We also engaged in various local activities and collaborations to raise awareness about mindfulness. These efforts aimed at sharing mindfulness methods with youth workers and youth, enhancing their understanding and application of mindfulness practices in their personal and professional lives. These initiatives were pivotal in promoting mindfulness's benefits among youth work professionals and young individuals, contributing significantly to the project's overall success.<< Results >>The ""YOU(th) in the moment"" project yielded significant outputs and results, marking a successful endeavor in integrating mindfulness into youth work. Key achievements include:Strong Partnership: The project established a robust partnership among youth organizations from Estonia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Sweden, and Ukraine, fostering a collaborative environment conducive to sharing practices and learning.Developed E-course: A comprehensive e-course was developed for both youth workers and young people, providing accessible and effective training in mindfulness practices and techniques.Increased Professional Capacities: Partner organizations enhanced their professional capabilities in utilizing mindfulness tools and techniques. This capacity building ensured that partners could serve as effective multipliers of mindfulness, extending the project's impact beyond its conclusion and continuing to integrate mindfulness into youth work.Local Events and Partnerships: Through the implementation of various local events, the project expanded its reach, promoting mindfulness practices among a wider audience. These events facilitated the creation of new partnerships, further disseminating mindfulness practices and ensuring their sustained integration into youth work activities."
