<< Objectives >>The project’s general objective is to foster ocean education for young people with focus on inclusion, citizenship and interculturality. Pupils will become aware of the importance of the ocean and empowered to act as citizens and promote EMA at European level. We will give a voice to children that are left out and unheard and enable educators to discover innovative approaches that inspire the next Generation ocean because we strongly believe all children can be part of the solution.<< Implementation >>In addition to project management connected to the European Ocean agenda, the EMA class will act as ambassadors through peer learning activities: study visit, field trip, workshops. The young people will reflect on efficient ways to engage for the ocean : film screening, awareness raising day, mentorship. Finally, they will be given the opportunity to meet with local authorities to provide their recommendations in the form of a pledge for ocean protection.<< Results >>The most concrete result will be the creation of the first EMA in Belgium to start the promotion of the concept throughout Europe and encourage the collaboration of EMA school throughout Europe. For further dissemination of the project, a website will provide video capsules and educational materials connecting ocean literacy, inclusion of children with fewer opportunities and citizen engagement. We expect the school to begin a long-term and fruitful collaboration.
