<< Objectives >>BelongVET, guided by Greg Walton's social psychology research, adapts social belonging interventions for BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic) and SES (Socio-Economic Status) students in the EU VET context. We aim to create an easily adaptable social belonging intervention model, developing a specific identification model and intervention materials for European use. With 6 EU partners, our project tests and validates these interventions, ensuring students foster a stronger sense of belonging.<< Implementation >>Adapting Greg Walton's social psychology research, we will contextualize social-belonging interventions for the EU VET setting, emphasizing capacity-building in social psychology. A tailored questionnaire will identify key student beneficiaries. We'll pilot these interventions in four EU VET schools, meticulously evaluating their effectiveness. By disseminating our intervention model and tools broadly, we aim to ensure widespread adoption, significantly improving social belonging for students.<< Results >>Leveraging social psychology as the foundation, this initiative is set to enhance student belonging and well-being in EU VET schools significantly. Through our focused application of social psychology principles, the identification model and intervention playbook are poised for broad acceptance. This approach will establish a scalable inclusivity model, showcasing significant advancements in student outcomes, and making a crucial impact on the EUs educational landscape through social psychology.
