Abstract

El aumento de la esperanza de vida ha traído consigo una demanda creciente de derivados sanitarios y la aparición y desarrollo de novedosas tecnologías médicas. Todo ello ha dado lugar a la aparición de una disciplina de enorme futuro, la Bioingeniería, que trata de compaginar desarrollos médicos con desarrollos de nuevos materiales y diseños ingenieriles. La Biomecánica, por ejemplo, se encarga de estudiar el comportamiento mecánico del cuerpo humano, identificando el comportamiento de tejidos y órganos, así como la interacción del cuerpo con distintos tipos de prótesis, implantes y demás elementos artificiales.
