Memoria Científica 1989-1990

Abstract

[EN] In this memory we present the scientific activities of the C.I.B. The Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas (C.I.B.), which belongs to the Spanish Research Council, is a multidisciplinar Institute for Biological Research. At the present time the staff of the C.I.B. is made up by 96 scientists and 163 members supporting research. In addition, 132 fellows are carrying out their Master, Ph.D. or postdoctoral training. The last year, 1990, the Director of the C.I.B., Dr. José Gómez-Acebo y Duque de Estrada died. He prompted two important projects for the future of the C.I.B. One was the building of a new seat for the lnstitute at the campus of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. The other one was to establish a relationship bewteen the C.I.B. and the Fundación Gregorio Marañón. The result of this interaction has been the creation of the Aula Científica Gregorio Marañón. The goal of this Aula is to organize scientific seminars in the C.I.B., which are supported by funds from the Fundación Gregorio Marañón. These seminars are lectured by well known spaniard and foreigner scientists, specialists in different research fields. We look forward that this is the beginning of a more broad relationship between the C.I.B. and the Fundación Gregorio Marañón, hoping that this Fundación will implement its scientific activities through the C.I.B.
