Abstract

Esta nueva planta de reciclado pretende avanzar el conocimiento científico y tecnológico para contribuir a disminuir la generación de residuos y la importación de materias primas críticas. Este objetivo se apoya en el Plan de Acción sobre Materias Primas Críticas para tecnologías y sectores estratégicos con la vista puesta en 2030-2050, plan aprobado en septiembre de 2020 por la Comisión Europea. "La importancia de este consorcio europeo centrado en el reciclado de tierras raras radica en el incremento significativo de la demanda de minerales críticos en los próximos años", argumenta el investigador basándose en el informe especial sobre la geopolítica de la transición energética de la Agencia Internacional de Energía Renovable El desarrollo de la infraestructura del Proyecto RC-Metals cuenta con financiación del Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica, del CSIC y la empresa Atlantic Copper. Además, gracias a Acuerdos Marcos de Colaboración, participan también las empresas Albufera Energy Storage, Colorobbia, Tatuine, Clemente Román, S.L., Técnicas Reunidas, la Universidad de Zaragoza y la Fundación Circe.
