Informe de resultados de la Campaña Platuxa 2005

Abstract

The “Platuxa 2005” bottom trawl survey is the eleventh in the series begun in 1995, aimed to obtain abundance indices and know the structure of populations of commercial species in NAFO Divisions 3N and 3O (Grand Banks of Newfoundland). It is the fifth developed with the R/V Vizconde de Eza. There were performed in 121 hauls in a depth range of 47 to 1485 m. Suervey results indicate an increase in catches of several species demersal as redfish (Sebastes spp) cod (Gadus morhua). In the whole series, Yellowtail flounder (Limanda ferriginea) is in recovery, although the values of their capture and estimation of their biomass have declined slightly. The catch of American plaice (Hippoglossoides platessoides) fell for the second consecutive year, maintaining its level below the historical average. They found a significant increase in catches of redfish (Sebastes spp), also increased White hake (Urophycis tenuis) and very slightly from cod. But catches of Greenland halibut (Reinhardtius hippoglossoides) and Roughhead grenadier (Macrourus berglax), were somewhat lower than last year. Shrimp (Pandalus borealis) catches declined.
