Informe de resultados de la Campaña Platuxa 2008

Abstract

The “Platuxa 2008” bottom trawl survey is the fourteenth in the series begun in 1995, aimed to obtain abundance indices and know the structure of populations of commercial species in Divisions 3N and 3O (Grand Banks of Newfoundland) of NAFO. It is the eighth developed with the B / O Vizconde de Eza. There were 122 valid fishing a depth range of 41-1446 m, over 21 days of actual fishing from 27 May to 16 June. The survey results indicate a significant increase in catches of some species of commercial interest, mainly American plaice (Hippoglossoides platessoides) and Greenland halibut (Reinhardtius hippoglossoides) and cod (Gadus morhua) and to a lesser extent, increased the Thorny skate (Amblyraja radiata), Roughhead grenadier (Macrourus berglax) and witch flounder (Glyptocephalus cynoglossus). Over the entire period is dab a good level, the capture of American plaice clearly increased, while maintaining a level below its historical average. We found an increase in catches of cod, but are far from being a clear recovery. The Greenland halibut, despite this remarkable increase, remains at a very low level.
