Abstract

El proyecto TEAM-Miño “Transferencia de herramientas para la Evaluación, Ordenación, Gestión y Educación Ambiental en Estuarios” financiado por la Unión Europea (POCTEP 2007-2013), pretende desarrollar herramientas comunes para la tipificación y clasificación del estado ecológico de las masas de agua de transición del sur de Galicia y norte de Portugal, con la finalidad de colaborar en la implantación de la Directiva Marco del Agua. En este estudio se presentan los resultados preliminares de Hidrocarburos Aromáticos Policíclicos (PAHs) y éteres de bifenilos polibromados (PBDEs) en muestras de sedimentos superficiales. Los análisis se han efectuado sobre la fracción “total” (inferior a 2 mm). Para la determinación de los contaminantes se llevaron a cabo las etapas de extracción en Soxhlet y limpieza mediante columna cromatográfica y tratamiento para eliminación del azufre. Los PAHs se cuantificaron mediante HPLC y detector de fluorescencia y los PBDEs mediante GC-MS. En general, las concentraciones obtenidas son bajas en relación con otras áreas de la costa española, e incluso algunos de los compuestos se encuentran por debajo del límite de detección del método analítico empleado. Dado los niveles obtenidos se espera que los efectos biológicos adversos en los organismos marinos de la zona sean poco probables.
