La evolución humana en su contexto palentológico y climático

Abstract

Los procesos de cambio evolutivo y diversificación de los homininos han tenido lugar en contextos paleoclimáticos y ecológicos muy cambiantes. Destaca el retroceso de los bosques ecuatoriales y la extensión de las sabanas en África al final de Mioceno lo que condicionó las primeras fases de la evolución del grupo. Se plantea que cambios cíclicos en la aridez y humedad pudo ser clave para la expansión en Eurasia de las primeras especies de Homo. Las posteriores glaciaciones durante el Pleistoceno dieron origen a ecosistemas hoy no presentes en la Tierra que condicionaron la evolución humana en Eurasia. El papel que la cultura ha jugado en estos cambios es vital hasta el punto de proporcionar la capacidad de modificar a los propios ecosistemas. La capacidad modificadora que supuso la caza masiva y el control del fuego son magníficos ejemplos del poder modificador de los seres humanos.
