La Casa de la Geografía y Gabinete de Historia Natural

Abstract

En 2016 se cumplieron trescientos años del nacimiento de Antonio de Ulloa (1716-1795) que fue un marino y científico ilustrado descubridor del platino y participante junto con Jorge Juan en la expedición geodésica franco-española (1735-1746) dirigida por La Condamine para efectuar la medición de un grado del meridiano terrestre en el ecuador. Posteriormente en 1752 reinando de Fernando VI fundó la Real Casa de la Geografía y Gabinete de Historia Natural primer centro precursor del actual Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales. Se darán a conocer los objetivos y avatares de esta institución pionera y los personajes que tuvieron un papel relevante en su devenir.
