Pedro Duque y Rosa Menéndez inauguran la remodelación de la Base Antártica Juan Carlos I

Abstract

El ministro de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, Pedro Duque, y la presidenta del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), Rosa Menéndez, han inaugurado hoy la remodelación de la Base Antártica Juan Carlos I, una de las grandes instalaciones científico técnicas de la institución, situada en la isla Livingston (Shetland del sur). El jefe de la base, Joan Riba, y los investigadores del CSIC Andrés Barbosa y Jordi Sorribas han informado sobre las investigaciones que se desarrollan en la XXXII Campaña Antártica 2018-2019, que está en pleno desarrollo estos días, durante el verano austral. “La ciencia polar en la que participan los investigadores españoles merece ser más conocida por la sociedad, considerando su relevancia a nivel internacional y los frutos que está aportando, por ejemplo, en el conocimiento del cambio climático”, ha indicado Riba.
