Abstract

La pesca en las aguas del sur de África está regulada por ICSEAF y contiene diversos caladeros de gran importancia para flotas de más de 15 paises. Entre estos caladeros, los situados en las costas de Namibia constituyen una de las principales áreas de pesca de la flota española. España captura anualmente entre 170 y 200 mil toneladas, correspondiendo alrededor del 70% a merluza (Merluccius capensis y M. paradoxus), y, siguiéndole en importancia, rape (Lophius upsicephalus), pota (Todarodes sagittatus), rosada (Genypterus capensis), y jurel (Trachurus trachurus), entre otros (Cuadro 1, figura 1).
