The proposed microactuator has at least one composite active element, comprising a metallic magnetostrictive core and an asymmetric external metallic magnetostrictive shell which covers the core only partially. The materials of the core and shell display either opposite sign magnetostriction or same sign magnetostriction with different values of the respective magnetostriction coefficient. The microactuator can be used in a non-contact or contact mode for displacing nano- and micro-objects. [EN]
