Troben espècies marines amb propietats antitumorals en zones de pesca d’arrossegament de la Mediterrània

Abstract

Un estudi de l’Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC) i el grup de recerca SeaHealth de la Universitat de Girona (UdG) han trobat espècies marines que tenen propietats antitumorals en zones de la Mediterrània on es practica la pesca d’arrossegament. Es tracta dels hàbitats de crinoïdeus, i són animals que pertanyen als equinoderms -on s’inclouen les estrelles, els eriçons i els cogombres de mar-. Aquestes espècies contenen molècules bioactives que són clau en la fabricació de nous fàrmacs per tractar el càncer. Així i tot, els científics avancen que tenen propietats antibacterianes, antioxidants i antihipertensives. Això faria que aquesta espècie seria útil per combatre altres malalties d’origen víric o bacterià
