Abstract

[EN] The scientific activity of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is analysed based on its publications in the Web of Science Core Collection database (WoS) during the period 2016-2020. The scientific output is studied in different contexts: a) the international context, comparing the CSIC with four other major research institutions from the European Union: Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Max Planck Society y Helmholtz Association; b) the national context, in which the CSIC's performance is compared with that of the whole of Spain; and, c) the institutional context, distinguishing between the three global areas and the eight scientific-technical areas in which CSIC is organised. The report includes research impact indicators as well as different measures to improve our knowledge of researcher’s habits in aspects such as collaboration, use of open access publications and the inclusion of funding acknowledgements.
