Migraciones y fronteras en un marco de justicia global

Abstract

Las actuales migraciones internacionales tienen lugar en un mundo altamente interdependiente, pero al mismo profundamente compartimentalizado en multitud de Estados. La progresiva integración mundial de las distintas economías nacionales no ha venido acompañada de una integración de los habitantes del planeta en el ámbito sociopolítico. Nos encontramos así ante la paradójica situación de un globalismo selectivo, en tanto que las persistentes fronteras estatales se categorizan como artefactos de control cuyo objetivo último no es otro que bloquear el tránsito no deseado. Para dar cuenta de este fenómeno nada mejor que recurrir a un oxímoron: globalización fronterizada. Esta flagrante contradicción suscita una serie de interrogantes en relación con los actuales flujos migratorios que nos remiten a las condiciones de explotación y subordinación que, con frecuencia, padecen las personas migrantes en nuestros días. Aunque solamente fuera por ello, el estudio de las migraciones se torna sumamente relevante para rehacer, en el escenario contemporáneo de la globalización, una teoría comprensiva de la justicia social que dé cuenta de las diversas formas de discriminación y estratificación a escala global.
