Abstract

Partiendo de la aspiración de Martí por el verso blanco o el verso libre, el autor apunta que sus precedentes poéticos debieron estar en la poesía neoclásica en verso blanco. A partir de este hecho resulta lógico que su mayor logro como autor estuviera en su prosa, donde su afán de libertad expresiva pudo realizarse con una mayor facilidad. Por el contrario, en su poesía se aprecia un revestimiento neoclásico --en los umbrales ya del modernismo-- que se identifica poco con las críticas a lo dieciochesco tan abundantes en Martí
