Abstract

La selección y ejecución artística de las armerías que aquí se representan es fruto de una larga y cuidadosa investigación, durante la cual se han tenido en cuenta los testimonios conservados, principalmente en monumentos funerarios y otras diversas representaciones en piedra, además de matrices e improntas sigilares, objetos artísticos , armoria y otras fuentes documentales ; en todos los casos se ha procurado optar por las disposiciones y variantes más próximas a los criterios, modas y gustos heráldicos medievales. Al propio tiempo, se han considerado también los aspectos y detalles de la tradición formal, de la que traen causa los modelos convencionales aceptados en los siglos modernos, sobre todo respecto a los muebles o figuras principales y a las propias combinaciones cromáticas. Pese a todo, el resultado final solo debe ser tomado como una recreación ideal de los modelos que debieron ser usados en el periodo de referencia (aproximadamente entre los años 1250 y 1550); es decir, como una aproximación cuidada y madurada, pero no definitiva, pues queda abierta a futuros añadidos y necesarias modificaciones. Elaborado en el Instituto de Estudios Gallegos Padre Sarmiento (CSIC - Xunta de Galicia) al amparo de los proyectos de investigación Linaje, parentela y poder: la pirámide nobiliaria gallega . Siglos XIII al XV (MICINN, Ref. HAR2010-18378, y MINECO, Ref. HAR2013-42985-P) y La Casa señorial en Galicia (Siglos XII-XVI). Materiales para su estudio (MINECO, Ref. HAR2017-82480-P).
