Memoria 2009 de Digital.CSIC

Digital.CSIC Annual Report 2009
Authors: Oficina Técnica de DIGITAL.CSIC;

Memoria 2009 de Digital.CSIC

Abstract

[EN] This Annual Report aims to give account of achievements by Digital.CSIC, Spanish National Research Council’s open repository, in 2009. This innovative project coordinated by CSIC network of libraries was launched in January 2008 resulting from the signing of Berlin Declaration by CSIC President in 2006: such declaration is one of the founding statements of international open access initiative and it encouraged research centers in Europe to maximize the visibility and impact of scientific information through the building and development of open institutional archives. Thus, the goal of Digital.CSIC is to work as a window to increase accessibility and impact of CSIC scientific research. In 2 years of intense work, Digital.CSIC has managed to make headways at a rapid pace. Backed by the infrastructure built by its Technical Office at the end of 2008, a remarkable growth of scientific output accessible via Digital.CSIC was experienced and the repository closed the year with 17.480 items, which is just a portion of all research made by 147 CSIC research centers and institutes. This outcome would have not been possible without the active collaboration of CSIC network of libraries; in fact, their growing involvement in the institutional repository shows a commitment to disseminating CSIC research as openly and seamlessly as possible globally. This Annual report has been prepared by Isabel Bernal and Juan Román Molina.
