Abstract

Una rigurosa y exhaustiva crítica a determinados modos de hacer historia de las universidades y específicamente de las coloniales es, precisamente, el objetivo de la primera parte del libro, que comprende los tres primeros capítulos (pp. 39-208). La segunda parte del volumen se titula “Las ciudades, las universidades y las fuentes” y se divide en cinco capítulos (pp. 213-488). El primero presenta las tres “primeras universidades reales”, la de México, la de Lima y la de Santo Domingo. El segundo de los capítulos de esta parte da un completo repaso a las universidades fundadas en el entorno de las órdenes religiosas.
