Abstract

El tratamiento en el laboratorio de muestras geológicas para análisis palinológico tiene como objetivo concentrar los palinomorfos para su análisis (contaje e identificación) en el microscopio óptico. Se utilizan varios reactivos, así como procesos físicos, que sirven para disgregar y eliminar los diferentes componentes de la matriz de sedimento de las muestras (silicatos, carbonatos, celulosa, ácidos húmicos, etc.), que en la medida de lo posible no afecten a los granos de polen y las esporas. Los métodos utilizados se basan en el tamaño pequeño de los granos de polen y esporas, juntamente con su resistencia a muchos químicos corrosivos. La complejidad del proceso depende de la naturaleza de la matriz de sedimento. En el laboratorio se trabaja con muestras sólidas no consolidadas (sedimentos lacustres o turbosos, ceniza volcánica, etc.) y líquidas (aguas). El procedimiento también incluye las medidas de prevención de riesgos. Se puede encontrar más información en Faegri and Iverson (1989), Moore et al. (1991).
