Abstract

[En] A second joint South African-Spanish cruise (SNEC II) on environmental studies was undertaken during april 1986 off the Namib1an coast onboard the R/V Africana. The main aims were similar to the previous SNEC I cruise (Datos Informativos nº 15), but the study area was extended northwards to the Kunene river. Sampling in this northern portion was also emphasized in order to investigate the frontal features of the Benguela system with the Angola current during the season when the intrusion of the Angolan waters to the south is maximum. A station grid between Kunene River (17º 15'S) and Lüderitz (26º 30') was performed. This report includes the samples and basic data taken as well as the basic methodology employed within each of the following working fields: Hydrography and Nutrients, Bacteriology, Phytoplankton and Primary Production, Zooplankton and Secondary Production, and Ichthyoplankton
