“Heterotaxia en maíz”: estudio biométrico del carácter decusado como punto de partida para el estudio de su herencia

Abstract

El carácter “decusado” consiste, principalmente, en que las plantas en estado adulto presentan hojas y espigas opuestas que se disponen sobre cuatro ortósticos, en nudos y verticilos dímeros, con las hojas y las espigas opuestas sobre los mismos, formando dos planos en posiciones, aproximadamente, perpendiculares. EL carácter “decusado” se ha presentado como una de las manifestaciones de una heterotaxia más compleja, de la cual se ha aislado por selección en consanguinidad. Es un carácter de cuya herencia, hasta ahora, sólo puede decirse que se presenta como multifactorial, con algún gen dominante y la mayoría recesivos.

Este trabajo tiene por objeto determinar las manifestaciones secundarias del carácter “decusado” del maíz sobre diferentes partes de la planta y en especial sobre la magnitud de la superficie foliar total.
