Our project started in 2017 by receiving grant support within the scope of European Union Erasmus + Adult Education Projects under the coordination of Gaziantep University. Locally, Gaziantep Governorship Family Labor Social Services Provincial Directorate, Kayra Consultancy and Training, transnationally ACD LA HOYA from Spain, AKETH from Greece, ECESI from Bulgaria have partnered in our project. Also institutions such as the Gaziantep Governorship, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of National Education and Red Crescent Community Center have provided support as stakeholders. Due to the war that started in Syria in 2011, approximately 500,000 refugees came to Syria in the border city of Gaziantep. In this process, refugees began to face problems such as social adaptation and conformity where they came from after their basic needs such as shelter and nutrition were met.At this point, they faced many problems in the field of education. At this point, our project aims to ensure that refugee parents with school-age children are a part of the solution to the problems they faced in their children’s education life, their children, children's schools and teachers, to ensure that their children understand the importance of communication with other parents in their class enabling them to see the truth by taking them from the emotional situation, take them from the point they are to move to the target point. At the same time, our project aims to ensure that local parents acquire empathic approaches towards refugee parents and contribute to the social adaptation and conformity process. In accordance with the objectives of our project, we first prepared a needs analysis report in order to better understand the needs and requirements of refugee parents during their children's education and their thoughts and emotional situation about the society they are trying to adapt and to provide resources for our Training Module. Firstly surveys prepared together with the partners in Arabic, English and Turkish and implemented in Turkey, Spain, Greece and Bulgaria. By this way 693 refugees parents 156 indigenous parents in Turkey, 600 refugees parents 120 indigenous parents transnationally, totally 1293 refugee parents 276 indigenous parents were reached. The results of these questionnaires were carefully examined and reported separately by each country and then a needs analysis report containing general results was propounded. (IO1) is a guide resource for the training module prepared for parents as well as an important analysis report for policy-making for local and national decision-makers. As a matter of fact, since refugee, the social integration of families, social adaptation and conformity processes came across as universal problems; this report has contributed to the whole world in terms of revealing universal problems. Secondly a web platform serving as a public and dissemination office for the project (IO2) was achieved. Thanks to this platform, all documents and information needed were shared and the project process was monitored. Lastly, one of the most important works of our project is the Training Module (IO3), which we created under the guidance of our needs analysis report. The main objective in the development of our training module is to mobilize refugee parents in the lifelong learning model, to move them from the point they are located to the targeted point and to gain new learning skills by restructuring them and to ensure that they become self-improving individuals, to raise awareness, improving both development of parents and the quality of education of their children by making them active parents. The module, which includes important topics such as Expectations, Awareness, Values Education, Life Standard Study, consists of 16 courses totally. After implementing Module’s focus group studies primarily in Turkey, in May 2019, instructor training was provided on the module in our LTT activity then the focus group activities of the module were also reported by our transnational partners. This training module is used in the continuous training centers of Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Family Labor Social Services, one of our local partners. Kayra Consultancy and Training provides this service to the requesting parents. At the same time, the training module is being used by our transnational partners and dissemination activities are continuing. The Training Module has been shared in pdf format over our web platform and made ready for the use of the trainer candidates by making printed booklet. In addition, the entire training module is available at refugeeparentseducation.com. Since the module's English document is also prepared, it is suitable for usage all countries facing refugee problems. The module is also an application guide for the ease of use of expert trainers and psychologists of all institutions and organizations providing services in adult education.
The No Shame Foundation was founded to educate people with psoriasis and other skin diseases. In Poland, where specialists usually recommend using steroids for diseased skin, there are no other, less invasive solutions. We want to change it! We note that in Europe, many people with psoriasis or skin diseases have major problems in assimilating their surroundings. Skin diseases are not only a health problem, but they have a strong socio-economic background. Visible changes on the skin are the main reason for the decrease in quality of life. The disease translates into interpersonal relationships, physical activity, socio-professional activity and contacts with the family. Social withdrawal and the difficulty in establishing close relationships leads to avoiding contact with peers and spontaneous exclusion from social groups. Working with many adults, we need to monitor our progress and develop the skills needed to efficiently provide counseling and motivation among our adults. The research results show that patients who felt stigmatized in social situations had more severe depressive symptoms than patients who did not feel stigmatized. International research on skin diseases often raises issues of cultural background that also shapes the attitude of healthy people to the sick and affects the image of oneself as a person affected by the disease. Through international cooperation, we can easily define universal methods of cooperation with adults, their activation in society and conducting a reliable dialogue with them. The staff of our organizations cooperate on a daily basis with many adults on various types of projects. We meet people with various problems, motivations and ideas so our basic tools must be interpersonal and communication skills tailored to the needs of adults. We want the organization to grow internationally. We aim to create a European dialogue on adult education in the field of skin diseases, health and adult education in this field. Despite the experience already gained, we feel the need to constantly learn and learn new methods of cooperation with adults, just like our partners.Project goals :Education of the staff of the organizations participating in the project in the field of new cooperation techniques with adultsCreation and implementation of long-term strategic cooperation in the field of adult education between organizations participating in the projectDeveloping trainings on methods of cooperation with adults - their motivation, activation and inspiration for social actionDevelopment and implementation of new methods of managing educational projects for adultsImproving communication in the native languages and foreign languages of participants, in particular in English, which is the main language of the projectImprovement of digital competences, such as the use of a camera, video camera, computer and programs for photo editing and film processing.Improving the competences of the staff of partner organizations that allow conducting multi-threaded projects by adults and with adultsTeaching participants to work in a group, build a team and lead itRaising cultural awareness and expressing one's own ideas while respecting members of an international group from different backgroundsSupporting the education of people with fewer opportunities and their integration in international societyStaff education in international cooperationOrganization of an international conference associating non-governmental and business units on skin diseases and mental disordersExchange of knowledge about marketing implemented to reach adult target groupsEfficient and effective creation of social actions through cooperation with adultsThrough the organization of this project, we support the personal development of participants benefiting from non-formal education, whose main goal is learning through practice. Participants will not only improve their knowledge about education in their country and Europe, but will also have the opportunity to acquire new hard and soft skills.
<< Background >>Climate change and environmental degradation are an existential threat to Europe and the world. The European Commission’s outline and guide, the European Green Deal, is the way leading to transforming Europe the first climate-neutral landmass by 2050, scoping in suitability without leaving anyone behind. To reach this 2050 objective, activity will be required by all segments of the economy, counting: contributing to environmentally-friendly innovations; supporting industry to improve; turning into cleaner activities, cheaper and more beneficial shapes of private and open transport; decarbonizing the energy segment; guaranteeing buildings are more vitality effective; working with universal accomplices to progress worldwide natural benchmarks. The only way that the aforementioned objectives may be achieved is by turning climate and natural challenges into real opportunities, by fair and comprehensive activities for all. Reaching this target will require activity by all segments of economy, including investing in environmentally friendly technologies supporting not only industrial but also individual activities to innovate and turning out cleaner.Additionally to the Green Deal approach, Paris Agreement set it clear that in order for the long-term temperature objective to be reached, nations should reach a worldwide reduction of emissions as soon as possible to conclude to a climate-neutral world by mid-century. The Paris Agreement clarifies that bringing all nations into a common cause is a powerful tool to undertake ambitious efforts to combat climate change and adapt to its effects. In this line of approach, the idea of completely understanding technology development and transfer for both improving resilience to climate change and reducing Green House Gases emissions (GHG) can only be approached if technological improvements act in accordance to those scopes. Finally, the importance of technological frameworks to act as guidance for environmental pollution reduction, are being underlying. Apart from the ambitions and goals having been set in line with GHG minimization and environmental pollution limitation, the Sustainable Development Goals completes the targets that should be achieved for adding value to human living and environmental survival. The call refers to action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. The organization recognizes that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with procedures that construct financial development and address a route of social needs counting training, wellbeing, social assurance, and work opportunities, whereas handling climate change and environmental protection. Finally, it is of high time to live in a world equal for all, without leaving no one behind. May the world, the research and the innovative techniques get more and more improved but this improvement can not be assumed as important as it would be if it was accessible and reachable from all. Unfortunately, people with fewer opportunities are not always included to the innovative approaches. For that reason, GENTLY can be the milestone for a new innovative EUROPE whose improvements and innovations are accessible to everyone.<< Objectives >>GENTLY focuses on three out of 17 sustainability goals that are the goal number 4 ‘Education’, goal number 12 ‘Sustainable consumption and Production patterns’ and goal umber 13 ‘Taking urgent action to compact climate change and its impacts’. The development of a framework able to simultaneously deal for empowering the actions needed to achieve sustainability goals; is among others a major scope of GENTLY.Accordingly, it is inevitable to act in line not only with Green Deal and Paris Agreement but also with Sustainability goals in order to ensure the well-being and environmental survival. In this line of approach, GENTLY aims to highlight the main pollution parameters, inform the individuals about eco-friendly alternatives to everyday practices and services used, ‘reward’ eco-consciousness companies and services, educate individuals about environmental facts. Finally, it is of urgent importance for an equal Europe and equal world to look forward without leaving no one behind. GENTLY focuses on both youth workers but also people with fewer opportunities. GENTLY tragets at using the available digital means so as to transfer the knowldede about energy efficiency and green deal practices to a wide target group. GENTLY is an innovative energy efficiency maximization-based project that strives for European Union (EU) targets achievement as it is aligned with youth awareness for energy efficiency actions, environmental emissions, and promotion of EU green deal targets and measures for energy efficiency maximization through empowering young people. The main objective of the current project is to offer added value, reclaim international cooperation, and the available digital means for informing and educating the youth in a non-formal playful, and joyful way. The main scope of the project is to create an innovative package of games that will include both board and online games of two levels (easy and professional) to include a wide variety of youth. Therefore, having as target group youth workers and young people (and youth with fewer opportunities), the project’s objectives are: - To conduct research analysis investigating climate change facts and green deal actions scoping in energy efficiency maximization and green deal reclaimed- To design, test, and publish an innovative training game package for youth workers and young people that will guide and support them to provide quality training on target groups (youths and youths with fewer opportunities) on energy efficiency issues - To deliver training courses to train youth workers, in learning processes related to energy efficiency issues, through green deal games-To involve companies in professional games indicating actions for environmental protection align with dissemination elimination and minorities’ support-To exploit as much as possible, partners' experience and skills to result in a highly innovative and useful package of game-based learning package.<< Implementation >>The intention is to work at the very best viable stage of engagement, to ensure happy members between all challenge events, to be aware of information, to respect contributors' distinct expectations, the time and the needs for GENTLY to achieve the desired outcomes. Plenty of time could be allotted to practical activities and to cooperation with appropriate experts. 1. The GENTLY research analysis investigating climate change facts and green deal actions scoping in reducing climate change activities (PR1), which simultaneously examines young people's knowledge and awareness of climate change issues and green deal practices, how they relate to them in different contexts, and how to best engage and participate in local and international actions to address this problem, the Best Practices Guide on Application Game (easy game) (PR2), and a Board Game designed properly also for people with hearing or seeing problems (PR3).2. A minimum of 19 trained (C1) youth workers (2 from each country + at least 5 at the local level) to learn how to use GBL in youth learning about energy efficiency concerns in a C1 short training event for youth;3. A minimum of 26 young people (3 from each nation plus a minimum of 5 at the local level) to participate in GBL procedures in order to improve their knowledge of environmental hazards and green deal practices both locally and globally;4. A minimum of 2 companies (2 from each country) to participate in professional game (PR3) indicating actions for environmental protection align with dissemination elimination and minorities’ support;5. 8 multiplier events (7 multiplier events and 1 Final Conference) to raise awareness of the project, its project results, and outcomes among youth workers and learners, as well as other stakeholders (climate change and sustainable development organizations, youth organizations, policymakers and reformers, youth workers/trainers/educators working with young people, and so on).- Each partner will have the opportunity to learn about GBL as it is practiced in their own country, exchange good practices and experiences, develop common recommendations and guidelines, and improve learning through a fun, motivating, and stimulating GBL environment; - The project will facilitate the collaboration between key people and Youth workers from each partner and the social integration of youth from different countries, cultures, and way of life; - European international mobility of project participants; - Final conference informational material and publications translated into partners’ languages; - Social and media campaigns; - Language and social competence of project participants through active transnational communication and involvement in project activities. A set of activities are also included in the project: -Project Management includes agreements, administrative work, financial and budget control, time management, roles and duties allocation, reporting templates, communication methods, and reporting procedures, where the coordinator will be accountable with cooperation from all partners. -Project Evaluation and Quality Assurance Strategy will be set up at the start of the project and will include a detailed description of the quality and risk management plan as well as quality assurance procedures to ensure the quality of project deliverables. -Dissemination Plan will be developed to define dissemination actions aimed at project stakeholders and the general public. -Sustainability and Exploitation Plan will ensure that the partners may make the most use of the resources generated, both inside the partnership and with other institutions, during and after the project. At the end of the project, findings, package of games will be communicated to new contexts and disciplines of study. The PRs will also be accessible to the public via the project's website. This will allow, in the long run, to further formalize project PRs at the policy, as well as to make established approaches.<< Results >>The project's outcomes are extremely related to the project results and activities completed during the project's implementation period; as main objective of GENTLY is to be formed so as to combine multiplier benefits:The main outcome through GENTLY is to provide EU with a package of tools, through the use of GBL so as to empower young people, aware them about environmental threats and train them about green deal practices for energy efficiency maximization and emission minimization. The consortium will start with the practice of the PRs. The GENTLY area research (PR1) can be the first PR to be produced aiming to research the knowledge of youth about environmental problems and green deal practices so at to maximize energy efficiency and minimize environmental pollution, and the way to achieve the greatest interaction and participation in actions to address this hazards and reclaim practices to save the world. PR2 is a package of both boar games and the application development for providing GBL through digital means. It will include both facts (hazards separated in main categories) and actions (green deal practices) that should be properly allocated so as to result in a net-zero emission world. PR3 is the transformation of both the board game and the application, so for people with fewer opportunities to be able to participate and take advantages of the GBL developed (e.g. audio games, braille code board game etc.). PR4 includes the interaction and the real-time participation of companies with young workers. Companies will have the opportunity to both educate their workers, but also to be given a realistic approach to improve their eco-friendly profile by simultaneously empower people with fewer opportunities. All PRs consist a completed educator’s package framework, innovatively designed, illustrated and tested, so for both the educators and the young people to be able to take advantage of GBL, improve their educational background, broaden their horizons, participating in EU activities that will enrich their skills and awareness, equip them to properly alter and shape both a next generation EU and consequently a new world. In addition to the POs, 5- day quick-time period training events (C1+C2) will be organized. For the duration of the training, the youths will be skilled on how to utilize the PRs to empower youths to act accordingly both environmental practices but also without leaving no one behind and use the positive means available by EU, via GBL. All PRs will be pilot-examined at the youth throughout C1. Comments and pointers for improvement of PRs may be given through young people on C1. C2 can be a five-day getting to know activity for youth. They may be concerned in the three PRs (PR2, PR3, PR3) to pilot test the games and they may supply comments after the end of the gaining knowledge of occasion to allow improvements and adjustments of every PR. Besides the PRs and the educational events, seven multiplier occasions such as the very last multiplier event (international conference) can be applied for disseminating the venture's outputs and results. All of the undertaking is designed primarily based on the wishes of the goal institution and at the long experience of the assignment’s companions. The method with a purpose to be evolved and observed via the partners, will pay attention on the success of the venture’s effects.
The cultural and creative sectors, especially the venue-based sectors (museums, performing arts, festivals, exhibitions, etc.) are among the hardest hit by the pandemic. They stimulate innovation, as well as have various positive social impacts, such as well-being and health, education, inclusion, urban regeneration, etc. In some way, the lockdown and social distancing measures have made evident the importance of arts and culture for people’s mental well-being, and this recognition provides a new opportunity to capitalize on the role of arts and culture in the face of Covid-19 emergency. Also, during these unfortunate times creativity and innovation are very important, because they represent powerful tools for education and development. Given that, this Strategic partnership between 6 organisations working in the field of youth, creativity and arts seeks to enable building the capacities of educators, youth workers and young people to use arts as educational tools for addressing positive values, such as solidarity, unity, inclusion, and equity, which have crucial importance in dealing with the Covid-19 emergency. Now, probably more than ever, it is time for unity and for the international community to work together in solidarity to stop its long-lasting consequences. That being said, with the project ‘Art is My Weapon’ we seek to engage young people across Europe in a unique intercultural action for addressing solidarity, unity, inclusion, and equity through painting murals on public surfaces across Europe in partners’ countries. Thus, during the project 42 participants will take part in a Youth exchange where they will paint murals on a wall (2 meters tall and 15 meters long) of a football field part of the Red Cross Training Center in Struga, the Republic of Macedonia. Upon return to their home countries, the partners and participants by involving local young people will paint one mural on a public surface in their local communities as well. All murals in each country will be part of one concept that will reflect the project idea in order to create landmarks in partner’s countries who participated in this project which will be revealed during an online exhibition on 12 August - the International Day of Youth. Also, during the project 24 youth workers will be trained in non-formal methods addressing solidarity, unity, inclusion and equity. The methods will be part of a Toolkit published on the project’s website for other youth workers, educators and young leaders to use in their future work, supported with video tutorials on their implementation. In that regard, the project’s objectives are set as follows:to commemorate the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as to raise awareness about European values among youth and the general public, such as solidarity, unity, inclusion and equity through painting murals in all partner’s countries;to provide an opportunity for international cooperation and exchange of experiences and good working practices related to using arts as an educational tool in partner’s countries;to create a Toolkit about how to use arts as an educational tool, thus to increase youth workers’ capacity to facilitate activities addressing solidarity, unity, inclusion, and equity among young people through use of creative non-formal methods;to design and develop a Website about how to use arts as a tool for education, social and community development;to organize and implement an online exhibition where the murals painted in each partner country will be revealed, happening on 12 August - International Youth Day;to promote the Erasmus+ Programme, intercultural learning and non-formal education. The murals painted in the local communities of partners’ communities will have a long term impact on the general public who will be able to receive the message behind it for 5-10 years to come. One big mural will be painted during the Youth exchange by the participants, as well as 6 other murals in partners’ local communities that will be part of one cohesive concept. All murals will commemorate the Covid-19 emergency by promoting solidarity, unity, inclusion and equity. Thus, the murals will be painted on public surfaces by involving young people from partner’s local communities in order to make an impact on local and European level by showing what can be done by youth coming from 6 different European countries and backgrounds. With these murals we seek to make a triple impact - to beautify the environment, to make young voices be heard by promoting solidarity, unity, inclusion, and equity and to commemorate the Covid-19 emergency. In addition, since the youth workers will use the methods learned during the project, young people and other youth workers in partner’s countries and around Europe will be able to benefit from this methodology.
EU is still facing lots of difficulties that put at risk the “inclusive growth” which the Europe 2020 strategy is aiming for. Even if in 2018 unemployment has returned to its pre-crisis level, it remains high in some Member States. In the euro area, the unemployment rate is 8.1% in Q2-2018. The EU area has recorded improvements in the state of employment in general and in all critical categories (people at risk of poverty or social exclusion, young and old workers, women, migrants and disadvantaged people). The 25-49 age group, despite having in general the highest employment rate, has some critical issues, first of all long-term unemployment, that represents 35% of the total unemployed (Eurostat 2020 data) and affects in particular among the most disadvantaged categories, such as low-skilled workers, migrants, women, people with disabilities. These human resources require special attention in order not to be excluded from the labor market. As reported in Joint Employment Report 2019, Italy scores “critical” on the long-term unemployment rate and Spain “weak but improving”.Last but not least, the consequences of COVID-19 pandemic on society and the EU labor market will probably lead to a sharp decrease in employability data, affecting the most disadvantaged groups of the population. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), the economic and labor crisis caused by COVID-19 could increase unemployment in the world by almost 25 million, and unfortunately also in Europe the effects of this crisis will be heavy. For example, in Spain in just over two weeks, since the consequences of the crisis began to be felt in the economy, around 900,000 people had already lost their jobs (data from National Social Security). This situation determined the partner organizations to involve in this exchange of practice, directly and indirectly 100 adult learners (adult people between 35 and 50 years old in situation of disadvantage) and the staff of the organizations involved in the project and those working in adult education and career guidance. The project aims to develop key competences in adult population and to strengthen the network of actors in the field of adult education, training and career guidance in the participating territories, in order to favour the social and professional fulfilment and inclusion of disadvantaged adults. The specific objectives are: SO1. Raising the quality of adult learning, directly involving at least 36 participants (disadvantaged adults between 35 and 50 years old) in international learning experiences to strengthen their skills and Key Competences in a creative, innovative, non-formal learning environment.SO2. To promote the inclusion of people at risk of social exclusion, fostering their self-esteem and autonomy, strengthening the attitude to lifelong learning and social development of 36 adults through experiences exchange with those coming from different contexts.SO3. To develop key competences of the staff of the partner organisation, sharing methodologies, tools and good practices for adult social and professional inclusion.SO4. To develop a more integrated information system in lifelong learning, guidance, training and job opportunities offered to adult population and increase the knowledge of EU Programmes for adults.SO5. To stimulate an open mind, intercultural exchange and intergenerational dialogue in at least 100 adults, fostering the development of their social skills and active participation to society. The main activities will include preparation activities, diagnosis and analysis of situation, identification and collection of good practices in the field of adult education and career guidance for adults over 35, mentoring activities, 3 transnational project meetings, 2 short-term joint staff training events in UK and Czech Republic, 2 blended mobilities of adult learners of 10 days in Spain and Italy, visibility events in each partner country, evaluation and dissemination activities. The main project outputs will be:• Project multilingual website (according to the languages of the institutions involved in the project) for sharing good practices and project's results.• Booklet with diagnosis and analysis of situation, identification and collection of good practices in the field of adult education and career guidance for adults over 35, uploaded in the project website. • Business plan/professional paths for adult learners over 35. • Video Vademecum for active participation and active job search for adults over 35.The project will have an impact at local, regional and European level, raising awareness of the importance of lifelong learning and career guidance, developing competences of adult learners and of the staff of the partner organisations, promoting social and professional inclusion of disadvantaged adults.
