"Museums are no longer merely repositories of culture, but vital educational institutions. Museums can testify to the existence of other cultures and faiths in ways that go beyond the written or spoken word. They provide evidence of other realities, other histories and other influences beyond the ones we might have learned or perceived. Museums teach critical thinking, empathy, and other generally important skills and dispositions. Trips to museums help get kids excited about school subjects. Museums teach subject-specific content and skills. Museums expand the general world knowledge of students.Museums have the potential to allow a great variety of ways to study, discover, interact and enjoy. However, learning is at all restricted to formal schooling in the standart cases.Museums in Lithuania offer many educational activities for visitors (each museum from 3 to 50 education ectivities). Museums are trying functional to use for education purposes. They have areas to promote developing ""learning by doing"" skills among pupils and students. Very often teachers with their pupils visit museums. But these visits are not regullar, and not included in to curriculum. Besides that, museums educational programs situation in different countries is very different. Moreover, there are many museum educators, working at the museums, but these education activities not included in to lessons plans and schools programs, pupils must pay for education activities in museums. Thus, the context of the specific project aims at the use of the museum as a pedagogical approach and at the realization of innovative activities that will be a motivation to recognize the value of the museum exhibits as important and at the same time alternative learning sources for the target groups who are seven to fifteen years old students. As a consequence, the objectives of the project are building a stronger link between the school & the museum, use of the museum as a place of non-formal education while emphasizing on the experience acquisition through the senses, learning via studying museum exhibits and through activities that improve perception skills, incorporation of the learning by doing educational approach, integration of alternative, learning by doing methods that promote collaboration among the participants.Extensive use of the museum exhibits in open cross curricula approaches, moving from the teacher-centred education model to the student-centred model where knowledge is elicited by students’ participation, understanding of present time via exploration of the past, finding similarities and differences between yesterday and today, establishing bonds among generations by encouraging the students to act out as explorers of the national & international past. Our target groups are students between 7-15 age ranges. Our project partnership is created by both experienced partners and inexperienced partners in EU Projects. Therefore, this project will give insight to new partners and develop their project management and implementation skills. Our partnership includes education and cultural center for teachers, schools, NGO, University and (6 associated partner museums and 8 associated partner schools). We will have 2 LTT activities during the project lifetime. The aims of each of them are to have information about how to integrate museums into our educational system and our lives and how interdisciplinary lesson plans created and implemented within the framework of museums and classrooms."
"We chose Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in adult teaching as the priority of our project because ICTs are playing an important role in the life of many people nowadays.Learning digital skills are required keys to society and economic development. Living in a digital revolutionary era requires that new methodologies and approaches must be used in the teaching field. In this regard, teaching English as a foreign language for seniors and adult learners makes necessary to upgrade adult teachers’ digital competencies to better use e-tools during their lessons.Indeed, many EFL (English as Foreign Language) adult teachers are interested in experimenting new methodologies suited for teaching to adults in their classes. One of the most useful techniques to attract adult and seniors students to learn foreign languages is Digital Storytelling (DST) method.Adult students enjoy listening to the stories since the narration has the power to stimulate curiosity and imagination. Therefore, since adult and seniors people choose to learn a language for different needs out of the schemes, digital storytelling combined with other e-tools could be a very useful tool to teach/learn foreign languages in adult classrooms in all educational contexts. Learning English as Foreign Language by E-tools (LEaFLEt) project is promoted by Fundacja Creator in Poland. Partners of this strategic partnership come from Poland, Italy, Spain, Estonia and Bulgaria and most of them have already gained experience in the adult educational field and in several Erasmus+ programs. The project aim is to strengthen the skills and competencies of EFL adult teachers, trainers and providers who work in different adult learning contexts, adult schools, senior clubs, and in Third Age Universities, with people aged 50+, minorities groups, unemployed adults, students and retired people. Thanks to the use of digital stories in English classroom we aim to:•Motivate and encourage active participation of adult students’ groups in learning English process.•Encourage the use of imagination and creativity.•Encourage the cooperative learning among students. Our Partnership specific objective are:-To improve English teachers’ digital competencies.-To develop students’ languages skills.-To develop a teaching methodology using e-tools such as digital storytelling.-To expand the lexicon using different words that come out of the story building process.-To improve the understanding and pronunciation using videos and audios as part of digital story play.-To create a stimulating and fun learning environment using fascinating and meaningful stories. -To promote the DST as learning tool to promote and develop an intercultural language education not taking into account the context and the language level.During the one planned short-term joint staff training event, participants will have the chance to achieve the project objectives in learning e-tools which are useful to motivate and update adult students in the English learning process. Our partnership aims also to produce the following tangible learning outcomes:- Didactic materials elaboration for training course. - LEaFLET dedicated FB page and social media resources implementation.- LEaFLET virtual toolkit for adult English teachers. - Video stories made by adult groups of learners in each partner country. - LEaFLET Vademecum (brief guide-line handbook) for English teachers. According to the target group identified by each partner, the different levels of impact are expected in this project on the following participants : English teachers, partner organizations’ staff, adult and seniors students, adult educational organizations in partner countries and all around Europe. In a long term perspective, through the creation of a new European network among partners’ organizations we will guarantee the evolving of our work after the cycle-life of the project promoting Erasmus+ programs among all European citizens that can benefit from our project. Seniors and adult learners lead by English languages’ teachers can improve their English using e-tools.
“I.C.T. (I Can Teach) ADULTS” project was an exchange of good practices project which was organised by Gebze Halk Egitimi Merkezi. There were five institutions from Turkey, German, England, Romania and Italy that work on adult education. The background of this project is based on an analysis of the partner institutions. Before shaping this project, a questionnaire in partner institutions were applied to our educators. The survey focused on access to and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in teaching and learning, and on attitudes towards the use of ICT in teaching and learning. The results showed that ICT tools weren’t used well in partner institutions, there was a need for effective use of ICT tools in adult education and our educators did not find themselves capable and motivated enough to use the latest technology in their classes. In this project, each partner had experience and expertise on different aspects of adult education and ICT use; Turkish coordinator on Android platform, German partner on programming, Italian partner on virtual classroom, English partner on curriculums and Romanian partner on web design. This diversity helped us create a project that will contribute all partners and other relevant institutions. We primarily aimed to develop our educators' competences in using ICT in adult education. In order to achieve that, we organised LTT meetings at each partner organisation. The meetings had activities related with the topic of each meeting and the expertise of each partner. Our trainings were planned as five days and during them, training sessions were held on the subjects stated above. At the beginning of each training, the theoretical part was introduced to the participants. With this, we aimed to make all participants have enough knowledge about the topic and the applications. After theoretical part, there were applied lessons. During these lessons, all participants were actively prepared their own software or design that they can use in their classes. Apart from applied lessons, hosting partner informed participants about modifying the current curriculum or creating new ones which contain ICT and adult teaching, and organised seminars about the importance of using ICT tools in adult education. Also, the participants were trained about the basics of adult education and the methods used.To get the good examples of each partner country, we organised trips to other institutions/companies that work on education and ICT. During our meetings, the participants had a chance to visit institutions/companies that create virtual laboratories and design simulations for education. Apart from these activities, the participants shared their experiences on adult education during and after training sessions. They could see different methods and applications on different countries. These training events also contributed to the participants culturally. They could improve their foreign language abilities and perspectives on other cultures. Between LTT meetings, we organised online lessons for educators at partner institutions. They joined these lessons from their own institution and that was a great chance for them to see ICT tools in use. We reached the results and impacts of our project as planned. Thanks to training they got, all the educators improved their abilities and knowledge on using technology in adult education. Not only our participants but also other educators at partner institutions benefited from our project because after each meeting, the participants shared their experiences with their colleagues. Now, they can use the latest platforms, programmes and software, design their own media and websites, modify the curriculums and do programming with different programming languages and platforms. The partner institutions understood better ways to improve their facilities and make their sources work more effectively in education. Not only our participants and partner organisations but also other people and institutions around us could benefit from our project. We organised meetings with other relevant institutions and local press to share our experiences. This contributed to our dissemination activities because we could reach many people. We also shared our activities on our project website, social media accounts and EPALE platform. This platform allowed us to reach many people from all around Europe. Moreover, the Turkish coordinator was invited to EPALE meetings in Turkey and had a chance to share the project activities and results in people from different parts of the country. This project had an important effect on participating institutions, teachers and adult learners at our institutions. Since the technology is continuously developing, it is important to understand its role in education. This project became a starting point for all of us to include technology in our classes and helped all partners improve their levels on adult education.
