ZDZW excels in offering a catalogue of IoT based non-destructive inspection technologies, providing an accurate inline evaluation of key product parameters that have an effect in quality requirements within different technical areas, such as: Part Integrity, Visual Requirements and Thermal Process efficiency. The ZDZW Inspection Solutions follow the concept of Inspection as a service, guaranteeing its cost effectiveness and improved return of investment, offering different types of subscription and pay-per-use models depending on the offered functionalities. To pursue the main goal of reducing defects and the waste generated in manufacturing processes, ZDZW addresses defects and waste reduction in three key areas that cover the entire manufacturing process and product lifecycle: (i) Monitoring and control improvement for process quality assurance, where first-time-right manufacturing rate can be increased, including improved durability properties and reduced waste generation; (ii) digitally enhanced Rework & Repair procedures for necessary part recovery and scrap reduction; and (iii) Continuous Sustainability evaluation to ensure the efficient use of materials and components across the full production line. ZDZW is strongly supported by collaboration with relevant EU initiatives such as ZDMP and i4Q, providing components and services that enhance key ICT aspects such as interoperability, interlinking, security, data reliability and digital platforms. ZDZW will demonstrate its ZD and ZW approach in 6 Pilots involving production processes with an important waste reduction potential, such as injection moulding, thermoforming, welding and coating, induction hardening, lithography and packaging, involving key industrial sectors as automotive, home appliances, renewable energy, e-health, and food and beverages.
Tech4MaaSEs derives inspiration from industrial challenges, scientific inquiries, and societal needs. At its core, Tech4MaaSEs develops a network of Digital Twins that possess both trustworthiness and cognition, allowing them to work collaboratively within a distributed value network. This network of Digital Twins is a key enabler for Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS), where production and anufacturing are offered as a service. Tec4MaaSEs provides a comprehensive DT-based framework for value networks, which enables greater resilience and sustainability across the entire value network with continuous evaluation and monitoring of performance through a multilevel balanced scorecard system. Highly configurable, the solution is able to respond to the varying supply and demand of individual stakeholders. This flexibility makes it possible to evaluate alternatives and react appropriately, while improving the understanding of the impact of external disruptions. The project will deliver innovative business models that ensure adequate level of trust among the involved stakeholders, and flexible adaptation of production capabilities, sharing of resources and assets and coordination of individual value creation activities in the value network. A complementary Governance Framework improves oversight and control of the underlying industrial operations. Governance is declined along three dimensions: Business Governance, for operational and procedural aspects and applicable resource sharing strategies. Data Governance, addressing confidentiality, data sharing polices, data authorization/ownership/ etc, and AI models governance - how human centred-AI models ensure trustworthiness and AI explainability. The solution will be validated in three real value networks demonstrating the improved resilience and sustainability of the solution.
Major disasters (e.g., Ponte Morandi, 2018) highlighted the critical condition of many European civil infrastructures due to inadequate maintenance, unforeseen operating conditions, and extended usage. Regular inspections of all types of infrastructures are essential to assess their health, guide maintenance and repair, and extend service life. SARAH adopts a human-centred approach to develop a safe-by-design integrated digital solution that supports maintenance and repair decision and planning, order, intervention and reporting. Leveraging metaverse technologies and egocentric augmented reality solutions, the system empowers infrastructure supervisors and intervention workers by providing real-time assistance, fostering skill development, and improving their Occupational Safety and Health. The solution, rooted in Human Factors: a/ identifies issues in civil infrastructures in a rapid, cost-effective and safe manner thanks to innovative sensors deployed on-site (corrosion, soil nail and anchor, structural crack) possibly via an unmanned aerial system (load up to 1kg); b/ fastly and accurately assesses the needs for repair (98 % of issues properly ranked) using a Digital Twin of the infrastructure able to run in real-time (reduced order, automatic continuous calibration) and proposes prioritised timely interventions, considering risk assessment using a Decision Support Engine (80% ad hoc correct advice for inspections); c/ launches extra inspections (either with autonomous aerial system or human), and provides remote support to the intervention workers (80% satisfaction, evaluated via interviews); d/ delivers certification report generated using generative AI, after intervention and repair (at least 2 types of reports generated). With this approach, SARAH offers a game changer for infrastructure inspection, maintenance and repair.
