"BEING HEALTHY MAKES YOU WEALTHY was a Strategic Partnership for school education developed for students aged between 12 and 18 years old. Our partnership was aimed directly at teenagers with low healthy life conditions and indirectly at their families, their teachers and their didactic training in health education and the school administration. Within this primary target group there is a focus group included formed by overweight students taken into account, counselled and periodically “monitored” with modern technology. The main objective of our project was to support the development of teenagers towards the realisation of a healthy way of life by promoting physical activity, healthy nutrition and emotional balance within the frame of a collaborative learning. All this and the awareness and removal of health-risk behaviours and addictions is leading consequently to the most important wealth of a human being: a healthy lifestyle. Results of our project are:DVD work out is fun, a DVD that gives instructions on different training methods and student sports for students. The curricular auxiliary BE HEALTHY! is a collection of materials to be found on the various topics of a healthy live style for teachers.Other results include the changed health awareness of the students who participated. The intercultural acceptance as well as the language skills of the students have increased. The participating colleagues got to know different approaches to health education in exchange and they have developed long-term partnerships. Two partners of our project work together in the new EU project ""My future life in a digital world"".We spread our acquired knowledge to new generations of students’, making the project live long-time after its ending by creating and funding an advanced Sport course with project funds from our project. The students learned how to use new technology in sports and education, such as the Polar Loop to create more movement and a healthier lifestyle and the students learned to tolerate each other as all students’, regardless their weight, will be valorised and encouraged to take part in partnership’s activities.Especially we boosted students’ self-esteem (especially of overweight ones), making them proud of who they are, not the slaves of their body image by showing how hard they can work, as long as they are motivated. Our target groups found in our activities inspiration, conviction and motivation to continue having an active, balanced and healthy life even after the ending of our projectThe Teachers will educate for health new generations of students’, who will spread the information to their families and friendsWe'll continue attracting students’ in extra-curricular activities meant to promote healthy lifestyles."
CONTEXT/BACKGROUNDEnvironmental pollution; microplastics, heavy metals and pesticides in drinking water; “water” as basic human right; European environmental standards, EU Water Framework Directive and many young people's strong interest in environmental and climate protection form the basis of the decision on this project. Today, these issues affect both our personal and professional lives. Especially in vocational training, environmental protection and resource-friendly production are crucial concerns related to production processes and therefore secure a company's existence. Rhineland-Palatinate has important waterways such as the Rhine (295 km in Rhineland-Palatinate), the Moselle (233 km), the Lahn (58 km), the Nahe (61 km) and the Ahr (68 km). All of these waters are major water suppliers for Rhineland-Palatinate. Our European partner/neighbor Poland has numerous water ways and coastal areas, too; several of them are shared and co-used by both countries and get environmentally burdened. Therefore, it makes sense to chose Poland as exemplary partner. No matter whether businesses and companies operate on a global, a European or a German level: they are particularly looking for qualified employees who are able to grasp the full complexity of issues and who are skilled in problem solving. GOALS/AIMSDeliberate handling of the resource “water”Knowledge of differences in the curricular training of professions related to chemistry and the environment as well as in the scholastic education of the participants in this project. Utilization of these insights for own personal development.Looking at national environmental criteria / Why are there different environmental criteria among the member states of the EU?Workplace Europe: professional and educational development opportunities in other European countries outside GermanyStrengthening of intercultural awarenessSkills development of English technical language in the field of chemistry Strengthening of the participants' personal competences Improved access to the professional worldProblem-oriented application of modern analytic measuring methodsPARTICIPANTSSupervisors are familiar with the subject chemistry. IT colleagues support the performance of the project.Neuwied: 2nd year of training (Fachstufe 1) and 3rd year of training (Fachstufe 2) to become a chemical laboratory technician (classes BSCL18, BSCL17) and students of our vocational high school (grades 11 and 12), chemistry course. Ages 17 to 25.External training companies for chemical technology professions: Fa. Lohmann GmbH & Co.KG, Fa. Lohmann & Rauscher GmbH & Co. KG, Fa. Zschimmer & Schwarz Chemie GmbH, Fa. Finzelberg GmbH & Co. KG.Police: students from the chemistry courses or from classes with chemistry majors participate. Ages 16 to 18.External companies of Zespol Szkol im. Ignacego Lukasiewicza: Zakłady Chemiczne „Police“ SA (in German: Chemiewerke „Police“ AG).Supported by the University of Stettin; chemistry department.ACTIVITIES AND METHODOLOGYIn order to achieve the goals mentioned above, the procedures before, during and after the meetings will be the following:Preparation:Creation of a uniform working basis; preparation of the participating students/apprentices and teachers in a training session which explains the subject of the project.During each meeting:Intensive discussion of relevant problems by means of texts, documentations, expert knowledge and excursions (mandatory!). Elaboration of results in, for example, presentations, comments, videos or recommendations for action.Discovering the partner region through lectures/presentations of the hosts; excursions to extracurricular learning places.Accompanying the project:Publication of the current work on the project via eTwinning. Creation of videos (e.g. with the help of the app iMovie) about the gained knowledge and about contexts that are relevant concerning teaching. Follow-up:Written and visual reconditioning of personal impressions and experiences.Reconditioning of technical content for presentation and knowledge sharing, especially with class mates.RESULTS AND BENEFITSThe material used and the work results/elaborations of the students and apprentices are going to be summarized into a broad teaching unit on eTwinning. This material shall contribute to the advancement of teaching in the respective types of school. The videos created serve as motivational intensification of the subject. The participating partner schools should continue working on their findings concerning right qualifications of future specialists as well as their adequate schooling.
Football and Information Technology (FIT) project is a School Exchange Partnerships written for students aged 15-19. Participating sides are a sports school from Bielsko-Biała (Poland) and a technical school from Neuwied (Germany). Each side intends to transfer to the partner some know-how from the field it specializes in. Our partnership is aimed directly at teenagers with not-market-suitable ICT skills and not healthy life education. The main objective of our project is to support their improvement in the mentioned areas through collaborative learning, promotion of physical activity and healthy nutrition, leading consequently to the most important wealth of a human being: a healthy lifestyle. On the other hand, we mean to gain new ICT skills in order to be more competitive on the European labour market. The project is therefore about how to be FIT in these two aspects of life.We intend to show our students how to discover the advantages of practicing sports as a leisure activity (besides offering them health)and the advantages of being ICT competent:* to have a proper occasion to socialize, to discover, appreciate and express themselves.* to combat health risk behaviours* to develop students’ digital skills* to develop students’ fluency in English* to make participants discover the diversity of the European environment* to learn through exchange of best practices best ways of being healthy and ICT competent leading to the creation of new knowledge.Teachers taking part:* will learn how to increase students’ motivation towards health education and new ICT skills* will benefit from the exchange of best practices with their colleagues from the other partner school, taking advantage of their experience* will acquire new approaches towards promoting health and ICT skills both in their teaching activities and in the extra-curricular ones* will improve their communication skills in English and GermanAs results, we expect:* to change old unhealthy mentalities, inspiring and motivating participants and also our communities to take long-term benefit of the outcomes of this project, making lifelong changes in their daily habits towards an active and balanced life* to raise students’ interest and motivation in getting new ICT skills and being competitive on the labour market* to boost students’ self-esteem in as many foreseen activities as possible, broadening their knowledge horizon* to develop teaching materials and approaches useful for the integration and education in classes* to take measures in our schools, promoting healthy lifestyle and new ICT skills* to spread our acquired knowledge to new generations of students, making the project live long-time after its ending. Our project demands bilateral cooperation to achieve its goals, to take our time working out selected deficiencies and benefiting from being together in the circle of European heritage.
"CONTEXT/BACKGROUNDThe idea for this project originated in the teaching of social studies in vocational schools. Under the main topic ""Technical Progress and Social Change"" we increasingly dealt with the structural changes and developments in the course of increasing digitisation, discussed in Germany under the keyword ""Industry 4.0"". This topic has already been implemented at the David Roentgen School for several years in the field of technology. Of central importance is the project Industrie4.0@school, an interactive learning project in which students demonstrate how industry 4.0 works and its philosophy using a real, functioning production scenario. In the social studies and ethics lessons, however, the students became aware that digitisation is more than a technical development; social, political, ethical and pedagogical issues also play a very important role. In particular, young adults were concerned about the security of their own jobs.PARTICIPANTSThe topic becomes even more exciting with a view to the European Union. Despite all the successes in enlargement and integration, the differences in the structural development of the economy are considerable, and the framework conditions and prerequisites diverge. In this way, the individual member states, regions and cities create their own individual way of dealing with the current and future challenges of structural change and digitisation. The selection of our 3 partner schools is supposed to reflect part of this diversity: - Romania (Liceul Tehnologic Petru Poni) suffers strongly from the emigration of young, well-qualified workers to Central and Western Europe and at the same time fights for the settlement of high-tech companies and service providers.- Estonia (Tallinna Mustamae Humanitaargumnaasium) enjoys the reputation of a progressive, digitised education landscape and relies primarily on the information and services sector.- Italy (Liceo Orso Mario Corbino) is currently suffering from economic and financial problems, with Sicily occupying a special position as an island tourist magnet.GOALS/AIMSThe diversity of these four countries/regions serves to achieve two main objectives: 1. The learners gain a differentiated view of digitisation/structural change from different perspectives. The assignment to the partner schools takes place according to their competences and experiences: Germany: A View to Technology - How is digitisation changing our world of work?Romania: A View to Social Policy - What responsibility should politics and companies have?Sicily: A View to Ethics - What role does the human being play?Estonia: A View to Education - How must tomorrow's skilled workers be qualified? 2. The learners get to know other regions of the EU and their respective structural challenges. They discover parallels to their own real life, but also very different framework conditions.ACTIVITIES AND METHODOLOGYIn order to achieve the above mentioned objectives, the procedure is as follows before, during and between the meetings:PREPATORY: Creation of a uniform working basis; preparation of the participating students in a teaching unit on the topic of Digitisation/Structural Change and development of the four view points (24 students per country)PER MEETING: intensive discussion of relevant questions from each view point (6 students per country) through texts, documentations, involvement of experts and excursion (obligatory!)Elaboration of the results, e.g. in recommendations for action, presentations, comments, interviewsGetting to know the partner region through lectures/presentations by the hosts, excursion to extracurricular place of learningSUBSEQUENTLY: written and visual processing of one's own impressions of the newly discovered region, collage, illustrated bookProcessing the subject matter in a mind mapPresentation and transmission of the work to their own classmatesDURING the project: creation of a student video (e.g. with the app iMovie) about their life, wishes, future worries in their region; publications in local and regional mediaRESULTS AND BENEFITSThe materials used as well as the results of the students' work and elaborations will be combined on eTwinning to form a comprehensive teaching unit on the subject of Digitisation/Structural Change. The aim is to contribute to the further development of teaching in the subjects of technology, social studies, economic geography and ethics. The four videos will later serve as a motivating introduction to the topic. In Estonia, however, the teachers will also gain insight into the question of the right qualification of future skilled workers and the associated school digital offerings."
Closing the Gap in ICTICT applications are mighty tools to improve teaching and training. E-learning, online courses, online management and onlinediagnostic contents are a great offer for teachers and learners. But: why don't we have a stronger use of ICT and e-learning toimprove our lessons and our teaching? One Reason is the gap in ICT knowledge between the teachers and between students. Also between teachers within oneorganization. The project works on strategies to close this gap and improve ICT teaching. If we close the gap in ICT learningknowledge we have more teachers who can work on ICT contents. This team is also able to fill this mighty ICT surrounding withcontent which is the main requirement for stronger ICT usage. In our project 9 vocational and grammar schools work together to establish an ICT platform for e-learning online courses, onlinemanagement and online diagnostic contents. The schools have different levels in ICT practice and different focus of multimediausage. In the project we have an exchange of knowledge and we extend our experience together so that everybody can benefitfrom each other. Our activities/methods:- design of questionnaires about the needs of the colleges and students to close the gap in ICT learning- implementing a tutorial system- creation of guidelines for ICT applications to train basic knowledge- building teams for common portfolios- presentation of the freeware we can use- executing the concept of peer to peer education- develop of e-learning units with the help of students (e.g. usage of i-pads)Our common internet platform and website is based on moodle. Project management, documentation, results, necessary ICT tools(which are not offered eTwinning) are available on this platform. The platform eTwinning will be an important network between the project partners. To prepare the meetings and to realize projectseTwinning will be used as our communication platform. In the three project years we work step by step from time management of lessons and student projects going over to the creation ofe-learning lessons and projects until online diagnostic material for students and teachers. Results: We have a project ICT platform and every school has its own platform with own administration. Each school has teams whodevelop ICT contents. We practice peer to peer education. We have methods to find out the student knowledge and problems tosupport the student individual and avoid the risk of early school leaving. We publish our experience to help other schools or institution to build up or to improve similar ICT systems.
