GREENE addresses one of the Europe’s Grand Societal Challenges, aligned with the European Green Deal and the recently released Green Deal Industrial Plan for the Net-Zero Age, which alongside the Circular Economy Action Plan, sets the framework for the transformation of the EU’s industry. Rare-earth-element (REE) permanent magnets based on Nd–Fe–B are vital for use in electric vehicles and wind turbines, making then central to Europe’s green-energy future. These magnets have outstanding properties, but they are not without their weaknesses. There is, of course, the well-known dependence on imports from China, on which Europe is presently totally dependent. However, here, in line with the scope of the Resilient valu chains 2023 call, GREENE will focous on a redesign of Nd-Fe-B magnets as an advanced material where the Nd in the grain boundary is replaced. At the same time, we will address the problem of translating the under-used intrinsic properties of the hard-magnetic Nd2Fe14B phase into better extrinsic properties of the magnet. And, since the process will apply equally well to fresh or recycled feedstocks, we will also be impacting on the problem of supply dependence.

The development of new paradigms in signal processing and communication technologies during the last decade has allowed a significant jump in the processing speed of complex data, allowing numerous embedded implementations for real-time medical applications and the development of cloud computing tools for bio-engineering. Recent years have also witnessed new research directions in medical image analysis, image guided diagnosis and interventions, and tele-robotic control of mobile machines and manipulators. Applications range from the integration of real-time imaging in image-guided therapy to new concepts for the control of mobile machines to assist medical teams in surgical procedures, or to replace crippled limbs by means of artificial implants designed to provide the user with the original functionality of missing or disabled body parts. The design, manufacturing and maintenance of these robotic units requires a variety of skills from bio-engineers and technicians. The development of such a technologically advanced and innovative curriculum for skilled workers, technicians, undergraduate and graduate students is the primary aim of this consortium. The novel curriculum will train highly qualified professional workers through a combined program of fundamental and applied multidisciplinary knowledge that integrates current research from robotics, digital signal processing (DSP), computer vision, and new materials manufacturing. The participating faculty members are able to draw on research expertise in the fields of DSP, robotics, materials and nanomaterials, design of 3D printing for human body, and manufacturing processes. The main innovative elements of the project are the integration of a multidisciplinary programme with EU-based methodology, extensive use of on-line resources, and interactive teaching. The project will impact the internationalisation of all the institutions involved, as well as the modernisation of the education systems in partner countries.

The main aim of the project is to improve Master Programme in Information Systems (MPIS) according to the needs of the modern society; to bring the universities closer to changes in global labour market and world education sphere; to enable them to stay responsive to employers’ needs; to give students an idea of various job profiles in the IS domain; to ensure employability throughout graduates’ professional and soft skills. Specific objectives of the project include improvement of Master Programme in IS according to the requirements of business; modernization of the current Degree Profile (DP) & curricula in IS. Degree Profile and Curricula revision will be implemented in accordance with the newest standards of Higher education and the compatibility with the National qualification frameworks; development of innovative academic environment for MPIS as a platform for training/retraining, PhD, LLL; provision/modernization of labs infrastructure for IS.MASTIS will enable the PC & EU Universities to modernize IS education based on the student-oriented principals, strong university-enterprise cooperation and modern approaches to the education. It will give the PC Universities an opportunity to prepare competitive specialists for Ukrainian, Montenegrin and global labour market. The following results of the project are considered major: MPIS Degree Profile & curriculum; teaching materials for MPIS; Degree Profile & curricula revision mechanism; joint Double Diploma Master programme; IT environment in PC HEIs; web portal for stakeholders; network of EU-PC universities & employers. In both partner countries and at the european level the impact of the project will take the form of university-enterprise networking. Both HEIs in general and business representatives will benefit from it because in global sense it will affect the development of national IT industry due to saturation of the labour market with quality IT professionals.
