In the context of climate change, the world is jointly embarking on a green transition involving strategic areas and paths, posing countless challenges, but also offering new synergetic economic opportunities. Society, higher education and the economy must adapt fast and efficiently. Vietnam and Thailand face a range of environmental problems that have implications for public health and overall sustainability. Urban areas experience high levels of air pollution, primarily due to vehicular emissions, industrial activities, and agricultural burning. All this becomes more severe under climate change. Vietnam and Thailand are moving towards green growth and currently cannot meet the increasing demand for green skills for a growing green job market. By 2030, the green transition will create at least 16 million jobs for young people. In order to shape their future and contribute to the green economy, an increasing number of young people need to be equipped with green skills - the practical tools and knowledge that allow them to utilise the power of eco-friendly technologies and to make environmentally conscious decisions in both their professional and personal lives. Therefore, green and sustainability skills, an entrepreneurial mindset and digital literacy are put on the agenda for higher education and businesses. The overall priorities for Vietnam and Thailand relevant for the CBHE call 2024 addressed by Green-Eco-Seeds are contributing to the “Green Deal” as the primary target and a sustainable transition towards climate-resilient growth and jobs commensurate with the secondary target. The project will focus on strategically seeding 25 academic modules and 20 beyond academic modules including a Green-Network platform. The integration of green skills into education, academic and business training programs and workforce development is critical for addressing current environmental challenges and preparing for future sustainability needs for business and entrepreneurship.
