Rapid urbanization and socio-spatial disparities in Paraguay, Ecuador, and Argentina limit safe, inclusive public spaces, especially for women, children, and marginalized communities. Inadequate infrastructure, unsafe conditions, and weak urban planning magnify inequalities, undermining social cohesion and economic opportunities. The DIPS project counters these challenges by developing an interdisciplinary educational program that trains students to create accessible, sustainable urban environments. Establishing collaboration between Latin American and European HEIs, DIPS bridges academic theory with labour market requirements and EU expertise. The project advances five core objectives. First, it establishes an innovative Master’s curriculum. Second, it strengthens ties with civil society organizations, public authorities, and industry stakeholders for curriculum development and internships. Third, it elevates digital education through staff training and new digital tools. Fourth, it promotes governance reforms in HEIs by involving students in accessibility assessments. Finally, DIPS expands public engagement via international conferences and networking events, broadening awareness of inclusive urban design. The project aligns with European Union and regional priorities on social inclusion, digital transformation, and sustainable development. Equipping professionals to tackle complex urban inequalities, DIPS fosters academic excellence and practical skill-building, boosting employability and shaping equitable policy frameworks. In the long term, it will fortify the institutional capacity of Latin American HEIs, position them as catalysts of social and economic progress, and encourage cross-border collaboration. Through holistic methodologies, DIPS aims to drive transformative change in public space design beyond the academic sphere, contributing to national and regional priorities.
