Abstract

Memorial del doctor Nicolás Quemerfordo, irlandés, en el que desarrolla su trayectoria vital. Fue colegial en el Colegio del Papa en la Universidad de Lovaina (Flandes) y se graduó Doctor en Teología. De allí fue tres veces a Irlanda a predicar, con gran peligro para su vida, y perdiendo bienes y hacienda. Después, en Portugal y Galicia también ha convertido y reconciliado muchos ingleses e irlandeses que allí suelen acudir, como consta por cartas del regente de Galicia y del capitán general y por el testimonio del corregidor de Bayona. Suplica al rey sea servido de hacerle merced de algún entretenimiento en Galicia, mientras dura el infeliz estado de su tierra, para poder así convirtiendo almas. "A don Juan de Idiáquez". "Despachado". Incluye sendas cartas del licenciado Antolínez (fechadas en La Coruña, a 2 de abril de 1586), una dirigida a Felipe II y otra a Mateo Vázquez de Lecca, secretario de S.M., en las que representa los grandes servicios realizados por el doctor Camaforte en la conversión de mercaderes ingleses en Galicia y lo pobre y necesitado que se halla al presente, pidiendo alguna merced para el doctor.
