Abstract

Consulta del Consejo de Estado a Felipe IV sobre el memorial remitido por doña Isabel Odonel, en el que refiere que su padre, don Carlos Odonel, era sobrino del conde de Tirconel, caballero de gran valor que sirvió en las guerras de Irlanda, a cuyo fin fue desterrado y marchó hacia Flandes pasando por Escocia donde fue apresado y degollado por orden de Jacobo I. La suplicante y una hija estuvieron en Flandes con doña Nola Odonel, hermana del dicho conde, que gozaba de 160 escudos de entretenimiento al mes hasta que murió, quedando la suplicante desamparada. Suplica un entretenimiento para tomar estado conforme a su calidad. Los consejeros estiman que mujer de tanta calidad, y que parece que desea ser monja, debe ser admitida en uno de los conventos de Patronazgo Real de Castilla o Portugal y darle una importante ayuda para entrar en él. Respuesta del rey: "Así lo he mandado".
