Abstract

Consulta del Consejo de Estado a Felipe IV sobre el memorial remitido por Francisco Birtus, estudiante irlandés, que refiere ser hijo de un noble linaje de Limbrique, y que vino a España a estudiar para hacerse eclesiástico y volver a su tierra a predicar. Para poder continuar sus estudios suplica algua merced en el limosnero mayor o, si esto no puede ser, una carta para que sea recibido en el Colegio de Lisboa, que no tiene más de diez colegiales y suele tener treinta, o que se escriba al obispo de Córdoba o de Coimbra en su recomendación. El Consejo remite la petición a don Íñigo de Brizuela, Protector de la nación irlandesa, para que informe, opinando a favor de la inclusión del solicitante en el Colegio de Lisboa. El Consejo se conforma con este parecer. Respuesta del rey: "Así lo he mandado"
