Geophysical study for the Extension of the Spanish Continental Shelf beyond 200 nautical miles west off Canary Islands & Geophysical study of the undersea active volcano of El Hierro Island. During the MAEC-GAIRE cruise, A total length of 4.471 km. of lines using multichannel seismic reflection, multibeam echo-sounder Atlas HYDROSWEEP DS, echo-sounders SIMRAD EA 600 and EK-60, parametric echo-sounder PARASOUND P-35 and gravimeter along the extended continental shelf of Spain west off Canary Island have been made. In the El Hierro Island a total length of 425 km. of lines using multibeam bathymetry, parametric echo-sounder and gravimeter were acquired, 162.9 km. with multichannel seismic reflection system (SM) and 75.8 km.of high angle seismic refrection
