Estudio Social sobre la Pandemia del COVID-19 (ESPACOV)

Abstract

[EN] ESPACOV examines the opinions of Spain’s citizenry regarding the multifaceted crisis originated by the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing mainly on assessments of actual and potential non-pharmaceutical interventions. The questionnaire also comprises items on the lockdown experience as such, the degree of concern regarding the possibility of infection, as well as the social and economic impact of this crisis. The survey was fielded in the fourth week of the generalized lockdown imposed on March 14th, 2020, by the Spanish government. Two sampling procedures were applied consecutively: 1º. Random-number mailing of SMS invitations to mobile phones in volumes proportionate to the ranges of prefixes assigned by the Spanish telecoms regulator for residential use. 2º. Paid advertisements on Facebook and Instagram inviting to fill in the questionnaire Both sampling branches provided non-parametric links to the survey ‘s website (encuestacovid19.net). The obtained sample amounts to N=2,391 (1,397 of which proceed from the SMS branch and 994 from the Ads branch). Raw data were weighted by iterative (rake) adjustments regarding municipality size, geographic area (NUTS-1), age group, sex, and education level. First results were published on April 24th on the CSIC website (www.csic.es). The dataset contains 78 columns (=variables) and 2,391 lines (=cases). The dataset contains no personal data, nor have such data been collected at any stage of the process.
