Formula 1 World Championship Calendar and Circuit Data (2026)

Abstract

This dataset provides a structured geospatial, historical, and sporting record of the planned 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar. The 2026 season represents the introduction of a new Formula One technical regulation era, featuring revised power unit regulations, increased electrical deployment, sustainable fuel requirements, and updated chassis and aerodynamic regulations. The planned championship calendar includes events across Oceania, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and the Middle East, including new and revised venues within the championship schedule. Each entry represents a scheduled Grand Prix event and includes: Original and updated championship round ordering, Official Grand Prix and circuit names, City, country, and continent classifications, WGS84 latitude/longitude coordinates (EPSG:4326), Weekend and race dates, Sprint weekend and cancellation status, Circuit length and historical venue information, Official Formula One race lap records, and Previous-season winner and constructor information. The dataset preserves both the originally announced and updated 2026 championship calendar structure, including races that were subsequently cancelled or removed from the revised schedule. The dataset is intended for motorsport analytics, geospatial and GIS analysis, sports scheduling research, logistics and travel optimisation, sustainability analysis of international sporting calendars, and teaching demonstrations in data science, optimisation, and sports analytics. The dataset and accompanying documentation are provided as CSV and Markdown files.
