Storm surge annual maxima along the European coasts from a large ensemble of climate models

Abstract

These files correspond to the data described in the article "Constraining extreme sea levels along the European coasts from a large ensemble of climate models" by Marcos et al. (doi to be added after publication). Return_Levels_DCPP.mat : includes coordinates (latitude and longitude) of coastal grid points and the corresponding return levels (with uncertainties) at each location for return periods of 100, 500 and 1000 years. Return levels are calculated fitting a GEV distribution to all available annual maxima at each grid point. Units are meters. Unprecedented_Annual_Maxima.mat: includes coordinates (latitude and longitude) of coastal grid points and the maximum values at each grid point from the hydrodynamic simulation forced by ERA5 for the period 1940-2022 and from the set of bias-corrected hydrodynamic simulations forced by DCPP climate models. Units are meters.
