Named Entity Recognition Tasks in the MUC series
The Message Understanding Conference Umbrella Series of Tasks were designed starting as early as 1987 defining information extraction tasks in terms of template or slot filling. This comparison reviews MUC-6 and MUC-7 (the last in the series), organized in the years 1995 and 1997 respectively, for its main characteristics. The test datasets were commonly based on the newswire genre but differed in the topics covered.
