La via della bellezza

Abstract

Questo volume raccoglie gli Atti del Convegno organizzato dalla Società Internazionale Tommaso d’Aquino il 19 ottobre 2024 presso l’Abbazia di Fossanova – Priverno, luogo in cui il Dottore Angelico concluse il suo itinerario terreno il 7 marzo 1274. La raccolta presenta quattro relazioni principali e venticinque contributi articolati in cinque aree tematiche: il pulchrum in prospettiva metafisica e teologica; il rapporto tra pulchrum e bonum; le letture novecentesche; le interpretazioni del bello tommasiano; e altri contributi trasversali. Il volume offre un’ampia testimonianza della fecondità del pensiero dell’Aquinate sul tema del rapporto tra essere e bellezza, mostrando il radicamento storico della sua opera in dialogo con i grandi autori che lo hanno preceduto – da Platone e Aristotele ad Agostino, Boezio e lo Pseudo Dionigi – e il valore del suo contributo sui temi teologici, antropologici, etici ed educativi. Non manca l’attenzione alla ricca eredità che la sua prospettiva ha lasciato, permettendo un proficuo confronto con autori successivi come Von Balthasar, Umberto Eco e Luigi Pareyson. Particolare interesse rivestono gli apporti innovativi che pongono in dialogo la via pulchritudinis con le istanze dell’educazione e della valutazione della ricerca scientifica, dimostrando come il pensiero tomista rimanga ancora oggi capace di aprire preziose e promettenti piste di studio, coinvolgendo non solo metafisica e teologia, ma anche etica, scienze naturali e sociali, pedagogia.
