X-Shooter: The First Of The Vlt Second Generation Instruments

Abstract

"X-shooter is the first of the VLT second generation instruments. It is in operation since 2009. I will give a short overview of the instrument and its calibration plan. A broad selection of data quality concerns will be presented, including instrumental and pipeline issues. Several of these issues could have been detected and solved faster, if the raw data and reduced data \nproducts were better monitored. For some of the currently known problems no solution could be found yet or resources are too limited."
