Il contributo delinea un primo quadro di sintesi in merito al tema dello scarto e del reimpiego dei protocolli notarili redatti in Italia settentrionale duranti i secoli XIII-XIV, lasciandone emergere alcuni nodi problematici e insieme le potenzialità sviluppabili non soltanto entro il terreno di studio fin qui pressoché inedito dei frammenti documentari, ma anche nel campo già da tempo arato delle ricerche di diplomatica.

The essay aims to outline a first synthesis framework on the subject of the discarding and reuse of notarial registers drafted in northern Italy during the 13th-14th centuries. Some problematic nodes are highlighted, as well as the potential that can be developed not only within the hitherto almost unpublished field of study of documentary fragments, but also in the long-studied field of diplomatics research.
