Tshangla phonology, writing systems, and orthographies

Authors: Bodt, Timotheus Adrianus;

Tshangla phonology, writing systems, and orthographies

Abstract

This document proposes five writing systems for the Tshangla language (Glottolog code: tsj). This document is a supplement to the ELAN-FLEx workflow proposed in the paper “An integrated FLEx-ELAN workflow for linguistic analysis with multiple transcriptions and translations and multiple participants” by Timotheus A. Bodt in the journal Language Documentation & Conservation. However, the document can also be used independently, especially by those people working on the transcription and translation of Tshangla texts, or those working on preparing teaching materials in the Tshangla language in or for its various speech communities. Bodt, Timotheus A. 2022. An integrated FLEx–ELAN workflow for linguistic analysis with multiple transcriptions and translations and multiple participants. Language Documentation and Conservation Vol. 16 (2022), pp. 417-452. http://nflrc.hawaii.edu/ldc/ http://hdl.handle.net/10125/74686

Writing of the paper to which this document is a supplement was supported by the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship PF20_100076 "Substrate language influence in the southern Himalayas".
