J. rossii Senghas Distribution: — Mauritius and Réunion Specimens examined: — MAURITIUS. Macabé, 27 July 1967, Vaughan, s.n. (MAU 0002113) (fr.). Habitat: — In Mauritius: epiphyte of evergreen forest with canopy reaching 15-18 m high. Conservation status:— The species is assessed in Mauritius as Extinct (EX) as per IUCN red list criteria (IUCN 2001), as it was collected only once in 1967 and there are no known individuals alive today on the island despite the many botanical surveys that have been carried out in its known locality over the last 44 years. Phenology:— Flowering in Mauritius: July (plant in cultivation). Notes: — This species has a spur of the same length as the labellum while in J. cf. fragrans the spur is twice the length of the labellum.
