Abstract

Dans les zones sèches comme celles que l'on trouve dans la région méditerranéenne, la disponibilité de l'eau est une question critique qui nécessite la promotion de pratiques et d'outils de gestion durable. Ces questions sont encore plus pertinentes dans les contextes actuels de changement climatique. La pluie peut également être une cause d'érosion des sols. C'est le cas, par exemple, lorsque le terrain n'est pas convenablement conçu pour stocker l'eau et/ou lorsque des pluies extrêmes se produisent sur de courtes périodes de temps. Des lignes de draînage et de petits étangs ont été mis en place sur plusieurs projets pour maximiser le captage de l'eau. Les étangs peuvent être plus grands ou plus petits selon la taille de la ferme et la topographie du sol. La façon dont ils sont construits dépend principalement des conditions climatiques et des conditions du sol. Les lignes de drainage, par contre, sont des fossés qui suivent les courbes de niveau et servent à réduire la vitesse de ruissellement de l'eau et à l'aider à s'infiltrer lentement dans le sol. Ces solutions sont relativement peu coûteuses et très efficaces comme outils de gestion de l'eau.
